Anyone here live in the Torridge and West Devon constituency? Tried to see your loveable and cuddly Geoffrey "feathering his own nest, Cox? Well, he is in the British Virgin Islands, where he has been earning around a million pounds.

I have a contact on FB for he is never critical of Johnson, Mogg, Trump, but can see no good in Van Leyden, Hilary Clinton, or Corbyn. Votes Conservative but has the mindset of a Ukipper. How do you educate the large swathes of people like that?

Not sure if true, but I read that he is advising in a case AGAINST the UK government.
That would be quite something for a party that plays the patriotic card whenever it can.

Advice to Kier Starmer: when you've got them by the balls squeeze until the pips fly out.

Yep I live in his constituency. First of all my credentials. My Dad was a proud socialist and installed socialist principles to our family. I always vote Labour and am resolved to always do so. I have intended to vote tactically on a couple of occasions but cannot bring myself to vote other than Labour (I know that is irrational but to put it into context it's in my DNA in the same way as supporting our unfashionable football team is, something else I can blame Dad for) I loathe Boris Johnson and dislike Geoffrey Cox's blustering, hectoring parliamentary style and hope that they both get deselected before the next election.

However, that said......speak as you find. Earlier this year I had a fairly complex dispute with an utility company which I tried to resolve myself but could not reach resolution. I reluctantly contacted Cox and (again reluctantly) have to report that his constituency office were excellent. Supportive, efficient and courteous and probably due to his reputation the matter was hastily resolved by the utility company to my satisfaction. So, perversely, as much as it goes against the grain, I have to report I was very impressed with my dealings with his office. Still can't bring myself to like him and hope he gets booted out though!

Great that your interaction with your MP worked in your favour.
When I was interacting with Lidl, about the rule changes that would have allowed them to put me on furlough as a primary carer to a vulnerable person, and they refused, I asked my MP (Royston Smith) to write to them to add weight to my request to be furloughed.
    He refused.
But then he, as the MP for Southampton Itchen (as in river) later voted for water companies to empty raw sewage into our waterways, showing that he sh*ts on all his constituents.

I’m glad you had a positive outcome with your local MP, I had a similar experience with my own MP James Heappey. The thing is though, an MP looking after a constituent is doing their job, nothing more. That’s what they get paid £82,000 a year out of our taxes to do. When it comes to Government ministers, who obviously get paid extra on top of their MP’s salary, and then feel it necessary to do extra paid work on top of that, it’s a very different situation, especially when the extra job is being conducted from the office designated for you ministerial rôle. If it’s true the British Virgin Islands paid him the reported £1 million for this advisory work, which involves a corruption case brought by the UK government, the level of bad smell rises very high indeed.

How is this not corruption? And how can anyone still argue that the Tories are good with the country finances when they do things that don’t even make financial sense to anyone with half a brain?

It isn’t corruption as it is simply not true. I used to work for the PFI that ran the HMTC Steps contract, and they didn’t own half the buildings in the first place, they sold them 20 odd years ago to an equity group. There is lots about the deal which is easily researched on Google.

The HMRC moved into 7 super hubs, migrating into them over the past 18 months. And they don’t cost £400m to lease either.

Thanks BtG. It's no secret that my politics are to the left, but calling out propaganda should apply to all.

Top story on the itv news is about poor housing standards and how houses in poor condition lead to ill health in the tenants.

Time to remember that the government voted down making homes habitable.

If it helps, I will vote anyone or anything other than Boris at the next opportunity.

Whereas I'm done with voting until politicians stop bickering over trivial matters in the HOC. I'm sick and tired of Boris and Starmer trading insults at each other every weeks at PMQ's. I don't care about this stupid saga with Owen Paterson or Geoffrey Cox. Boris is just embarrassing himself trying to defend them and Starmer is using it to score points. Pair of them can **** right off. Start focusing on stuff that's important - climate change, the impacts of covid, trade, crime, education. Stop making pointless **** headline news.

Yeah I agree with this. I will vote for one of the colour parties, either the green one or the NF.

On a serious note, the infighting and constant belittling of one another was what my main point is been on this thread for the last couple of years. It gets so wearing, tiring and utterly pointless, and the constant noise from Badger, Janbo etc got too much, so I bit back as I didn’t like it.
But I do agree with you, it turns you off politics, and nothing of importance happens.
