....Aye, we need that confidece back, that's for sure...We've played some quality stuff until current form.

Agree or not, McGeady is pivotal regardless of his attitude, I guess.

.....we need a massive leader in MF....January WILL show our ambition IMHO.

I'm going for us to win 2-1.! Wondering whether any of the mag tramps will travel down for this one?

Hopefully Johnson will get us back on track.

I'm dreading the meltdown over the road if we get beat

Genuine class matchday thread - again - RTB. Cheers.
We may be still a little fragile, and l would settle for a small step upwards with a deserved 0 - 1 or even 0 - 2.
Still got faith in LJ and hate the thought of not giving a manager a full season.

    Doyle centre mid?

With Johnson's comments about needing 3 to 4 weeks to implement a 3 at the back system I think we can rule that out.

I wouldn't be surprised if its am unchanged team if available

Great thread once again, to many players had off days Saturday so hopefully we are a lot at Shrewsbury and show what we can do,if our passing game is good it’s a win for us but I’ll take any win dirty scruffy any just to get confidence up and running

No reason this can't be another Crewe tbh.

We'll have great support as usual.

I can't get out of work now so I have a couple of spares if anyone needs them.

Back on form. I'm going for 0-4.
I dont have Broadhead as a winger. Needs to be closer to Ross for the knockdowns. Broadhead also has the pace to anticipate knock ons and mistakes. Remember him n Ross have been out injured. Needs a bit time to gel.
I agree with sheep in that Winny deffo shored midfield up and we looked better balanced. Leave him there and O9 at FB.
I think Geads for his experience and Dajaku for his pace are both decent impact subs to bring on ............if we need them. Otherwise give them a rest and keep fit for the next game.
Not Wrights biggest fan but thought he was solid enough on Saturday and possibly deserves to keep his place. Plus he does get on the end of a few corners.... when we can get past the 1st man.
Will the elusive Xemalji (spelling) get on the bench.

I reckon a scruffy and unconvincing 0-2 win for us - Stewart double with the second one coming in injury time

Sunderland are back on the road this Tuesday, facing Shrewsbury Town at Montgomery Waters Meadow (KO 7:45pm).
The midweek match-up will see Lee Johnson’s side aim to secure back-to-back league wins and further momentum, following Saturday’s Wearside victory against Ipswich Town.
    Team news
There looks to be no immediate fresh injury concerns for Tuesday’s visit to Shropshire, with the players involved at the weekend set to be available for selection once more.
Luke O’Nien will get a second opinion on his persistent shoulder issue to ensure that he can feature.
Longer-term absentees include Niall Huggins, Denver Hume and now Dennis Cirkin, who are all expected to be missing until the new year.
    Opposition
Shrewsbury Town currently sit just inside the bottom four in Sky Bet League One, as they compete in what is their seventh straight campaign in the third tier following promotion from League Two in 2015.
The Shropshire side, known affectionately as Salop by their fanbase, finished 17th in the division last season, with the most fruitful campaign of their current spell coming in 2017-18 – Salop finished third, as well as reaching the EFL Trophy final.
Steve Cotterill is now into his first full season at the helm at Montgomery Waters Meadow, with a wealth of managerial experience. Having managed the likes of Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth, the most successful stint of his coaching career came in the 2014-15 season, as Cotterill guided Bristol City to the League One title and EFL Trophy triumph.

I see a lot going for the win but don't under estimate Shrewsbury tonight their record is better than it looks. It will be harder than most think.

Thanks again RTB. I feel this will be a forgettable rubbish game with a scrappy performance- and yet we will take it 3 or 4 nil.
