I take that you want him gone - I accept and respect your opinion. However, do you have any names in the hat to replace him? Look at Utd, no plans no foresight. IMO he isn't perfect (far from it), but I don't think that a manager change will help at the moment. We need some money injected (or stability financially) before that will happen. If not I fear it will be groundhog day again. I always say be careful what you wish for. We wouldn't have got Gerrard and IMO Smith wouldn't have been much better, so we haven't missed out there. Lampard is available, but I am unsure of him as a manager, though he did ok at Derby (and Chelsea to be fair, but 'ok' isn't enough for them). Howe IMO is a one trick pony (only good at Bompey) so that only leaves the usual suspects, unless a 'Ralph type' appointment is made...and then we are back to square one. Change has to be for the better - we are still in the PL and playing ok if not quite well on occasions.
I'm not going to pretend to know enough about the European leagues to name names, but there are people at most football clubs being paid a handsome wage to have a list. I'm by no means thinking Ralph is the worst manager we've ever had, but we just feel so unbelievably chaotic with him at the helm. I think we all know that there's no money (although I'd argue he hasn't been on a 0 budget) but the team is his as are the signings, the results since he came in are all over the shop Anyway, like I said he tried something new today, and had a go at something different. We lost, no great shakes.
I do agree, it has been pretty chaotic. But I’d rather chaos and being the footballing equivalent of Lyanco’s brain, than having another Puel team.
My feeling is that Ralph is a progressive and charismatic manager who players appear to like working for. But our overall performance seems somewhere between Puel and Pellegrino. I know Liverpool are good and we were unlikely to win, but did we have to concede 4 goals? When we perform we are exciting, but as others have said we are inconsistent. So in the same way many wanted Puel out because we were boring, people must still be happy with how we’re doing (because we’re not boring).
Pellegrino's football was the absolute pits and the worst than any I can remember as a Saints fan. this is enough to make me think that things are not so bad ATM.
Fair play to the man but I'm still not convinced that the players did what they were asked to. I find it hard to believe Che was asked to play deep. If you have 3 strikers spread across the front of the pitch, you would expect one or other of them to pick up some of those long balls. They didn't. And when they did they didn't really seem to know where the others were to make the key pass to. Edit: Good tactic though - take the heat off the players by taking the blame. They can keep their heads up ahead of the Leicester game!
Meh. We did well to keep it below 5. Haven’t watched the game, didn’t feel the need to. Liverpool are unfortunately simply unplayable at the moment. Just need to forget this one and prepare for the upcoming games. I still love Ralph and back him 100% personally
