Carrick is hoping to keep it 0-0 until the 80th minute. Then bring CR in. If they score first we are in trouble with this set up.

Let’s see what changes are made in the second half. If we can get to 60th minute all square, then perhaps bring on Donny and Ronny.

Too much pressure led to that goal. Corner after corner!

12 corner kicks to Chelsea and zero for United. This is park the bus at another level.

For all the huff and puff about how great Chelsea are, they’ve been average in this game. Felt more like a mid table match than champions match.

We should start taking these teams on once we become sold at the back. I expect that to happen to kick this season on.

At least we’ve arrested the slide. A draw is a result and Carrick deserves some credit.

in the end we could have won it. Fred just panicked. But can’t be too greedy. We didn’t deserve 3 points.

Given our predicament, I guess we have to be happy with a draw away at Chelsea.

I don’t know if Carrick deserves credit for that dreadful setup though. We got lucky getting anything from this match. 15 corners is just posting Russian roulette. But credit to him for always being there with the players and ensuring that they were fully committed to the tactics deployed. We surely will have better days with that organization.

We rode our luck. The gods were smiling down on us with Chelsea's finishing. I swear if I didnt know better, some Russian had a pretty packet on United scoring first. I mean seriously, how the fck did they miss those chances.

Having said that, we didn't collapse, got a point and I would've taken that before the game given our situation, so job done.

Starting line up was still asking for trouble mind.

Didn't see the game, was out on a family social. Was on in the other bar but I didn't get chance to see much.

Saw the dynamic midfield three of Fred, Matic and McTominay and saw it was clear we played to not lose, so job done I guess.

    Bit depressing that though, eh?

I do think my influence is rubbing off on some here. Not sure it’s a good thing or not ;)

We did ride our luck in this game. But we do deserve some as we haven’t had any in some of the big matches. Had we conceded that great save in the first half from DDG to that Hudson-Odoi shot, I hate to think what the final outcome would have been. Carrick’s credit was possibly to give us a chance of a point. As soon as I saw that line up, I didn’t pray for a goal. Just a clean sheet for at least 30-40 minutes to give us a chance. No doubt in my mind that if we had gone for a more attacking set up, we would been stuffed. Not because the players are not good enough but because we are in an awful place atm and the team seems unable to deal with any setback.

Your logic is rather uncharacteristically sound with this post, Christian. Did you attend Sunday mass today?

You didn’t miss much. But at very least there was a clear system that Carrick wanted to play against Chelsea. And they (Chelsea) were quite sht once in the final third. I think that’s largely down to the system that Carrick deployed and the players staying very compact without given Chelsea clear cut chance at goal.

Also, the left hand side was very tight today with Telles. Just goes to show Shaw’s general weakness. I am certainly more confident in Telles at left back than Shaw. Then there is Mr Maguire who didn’t start due to his suspension. It worked out beautifully! Bailey was solid along with Lindelof. AWB also did exceptionally well apart from giving the penalty away.

The compact defensive midfield also did their job breaking up Chelsea’s play. But there was no real movement against Chelsea in the other half of the pitch. It was a full bus mode today!

All in all, it wasn’t a pretty day. But it was very effective.

...without given Chelsea clear cut chance at goal.

De Gea didn’t have much to do. It was all huff and puff for Chelsea. Outside of the first two shots at goal in the early first half, there was really not much else. It was all very scruffy!
