Just read this story about Dai: “How true this is I don't know but, Dai was a welder in Tower Washery and if you know Tower Pit the washery was a good mile from the main part of the colliery, it was coming up to the end of the 5 Nations but Dai had used all his rest days and the squad had been asked to assemble at the Angel Hotel at 1 PM but Dai was not due to finish till 2, so he didn't know what to do, so the boys persuaded him to tell the washery manager that he had a funeral to go to at 11 AM, it was custom in the pit that if you had a funeral to go to you would not lose pay. The washery manager said that Dai would have to ask the Pit manager as he could only authorise 2 hours off and he’d better see him straight away. The manager mentioned that Dai should get a lift up to the pit but Dai being Dai decided to run up. So he got to the pit manager's office out of breath and sweating and went in to ask the Pit manager. Of course the Pit manager said yes and as Dai was walking out the door the manager shouted to him to say hello to Gareth, Barry, JPR and Merv at the funeral”
So Ireland beat NZ for a third time in five years and we look like we'll never beat them. Thoroughly deserved as well, Ireland dominated throughout. From what I've seen so far it looks like it's going to be a very hard six Nations, with a fourth or fifth place finish for Wales, realistically.
As it stands, 4th would be a good outcome as 5th currently looks on the cards…. Clearly, our ‘style’ works, up to a point, against the Springboks, but doesn’t do the business against the ABs, whereas the Micker know what to do against the ABs…
Unfortunately our style involves kicking all possession away and not scoring any tries, the opposite of what Ireland did today.
It's taken a second card for us to score. Wales just have to win this game or confidence will be shot. Even if we do go on to win it's not the performance i was hoping for (so far anyway).
Inevitable, and only a matter of time, once the takeover happened. Arguably, the last vestige of Andrew Hore’s ‘Ospreys’ development structure’ has ‘left the building’. Many would argue he should never have been appointed in the first place.
