Nissan's £13.2bn move and burning of EU red tape boosts UK by billions.

Nissan chief operating officer Ashwani Gupta highlighted the importance of the Sunderland plant for the firm's wide-ranging plans over the coming years.

He told PA Media: "Europe will take the lead on electrification around the world for Nissan.

"In Europe, Sunderland is the one which will take the lead towards electrification."

This is the second major boost for the huge Sunderland factory following the announcement earlier this year Nissan would be investing £1billion in a battery plant, as well as updates to the North East hub, to to produce new electric models.

Inflation in eurozone soars to highest on record.

High gas prices and the cost of imported goods were blamed for the inflationary surge. Energy prices, including oil and gas, jumped 27% from November 2020, Eurostat said, to increase the headline rate from 4.1% in October.

France suffered a 3.4% inflation increase, its highest in a decade, but it was in Germany among the bloc’s largest economies where prices rocketed, taking the inflation rate to 6%. In Estonia the inflation rate jumped 8.4%, while in Lithuania it reached 9.3%.

Other developed economies have also been buffeted by similar inflationary pressures since the summer. The US recorded an inflation rate of 6.2% in October, the biggest 12-month jump since 1990.

EU shamed into U-turn after trying to ban word CHRISTMAS for being 'offensive'.

Commissioner for Equality Ms Dalli launched an internal guide to inclusive communication. It prohibited a number of expressions deemed stigmatising according to gender, sexual identity, ethnic origin or culture, the Italian daily revealed.

These recommendations aimed to "reflect diversity" and fight against "stereotypes deeply rooted in individual and collective behaviour".

According to the report, the use of the masculine "by default" should be prohibited and "Ladies and Gentlemen" should be replaced by "Dear colleagues."

Terms with a gendered connotation such as "workmen" should also be banned.

It should be noted that the document was written in English, so some recommendations were not applicable to other languages.

How the **** would they actually ban names like Mary and John? Also, neither are originally Christian names. They’re Aramaic and Jews were using them long before Christ was born.
