The old girl certainly didn't Excel with a capital 'E' on debut, did she?!? Not disasterous, by any means, but certainly not a performance that took the old breath away.

Bridal Knot was down to run about 2-3 weeks ago but got withdrawn at the start and that day drifted like the proverbial barge - something like 5/2 out to 9/1! I guess that was a portent of what was to come.

It certainly looks like The Lieutenant could be up against it to maintain his 100% Grade 1 record with Knotted Midge offspring!

Early days yet and those in front of her were all well backed, indicating they were tuned for this. Better to come from her I think, and she is in the best hands of course.

I expect she will be off to the breeding sheds sooner rather than later on the back of that. Not much point having a mare with that breeding sitting in training and not getting a decent return/likelihood of black type.

Fair point, well made. And it needs to be remembered that neither Might Bite or Beat That won on their bumper bows.

Oh yes the very best of hands. Or should I say the very best of 'magic' hands.

Another fair point, well made. Cor blimey I'm dishing them out this morn!

Yes with her 'Fred Dinenage' you wouldn't want to be messing around chasing inconsequential pots that long. Maybe, another run or two and if decency isn't hinted at that then dispatch the old girl to the breeding sheds.
