In the 2.07 at Leicester I'll take a chance on Furkash. On a career-low mark and the Tizzard's in much better form now. Sam Twiston-Davies always a good booking especially at Leicester (23 - 7 - 14 PL 7.05 over hurdles last 5 seasons)

    Morning all <ok>

A couple of bumpers in the UK of interest today.

Firstly at Wincanton, where Milton Harris can continue his fine start to the season with the wonderfully named Hasty Parisian (by Champs Elysees out of Va'vite :emoticon-0102-bigsm). Some pretty averagely-bred animals in this so Hasty Parisian wouldn't need to be anything special to prevail.

By contrast, the bumper at Market Rasen has attracted a number of nicely-bred types. Top of the market this morning is Chianti Classico who chased home that German raider at Ascot, Estacas. They did finish in a bit of a heap that day (obviously the winner did it very well, coming late and fast) and I'm not sure that warrants Chianti Classico being 11/8 fav for this and he is pretty weak in the betting this morning. The two who have been attracting support this morning are; Firstly, Fergal O'Brien's Fame and Glory gelding, Festive Glory. He is a half-brother to Babeny Bridge who had 5 wins and 2 second places in his first 7 starts in points; Secondly, the Queen's runner, High Yield, a half-brother to Summer Storm who won on bumper debut at Southwell for Nicky Henderson. But the one my arrow has landed on today is Alan King's Forget The Way. This Getaway gelding is a half-brother to Midnightreferendum whose bumper record for King reads 312 and, whilst the yard is not in the greatest of form right now, they do have a 15% strike rate in bumpers over the last 5 years.

Am fascinated to see if Kim 'Ivy' Bailey's horse upholds the Estacas form. That latter one still due back at Ascot later in the month, incidentally, for the Listed bumper.

Chianti Classico cost in excess of 6 figures but quotes around the 6/4 mark are hardly generous. methinks.

Lieutenant Henderson had 10 horses entered at Aintree on Saturday. None have turned into actual declarations!

Early finish for him on Saturday, incidentally. 4 runners (3 Sandown, 1 Wetherby) and none after 1.02.

Plenty of time for him to put his feet up and watch the Tingle Creek. Pathetic way he is campaigning horses again don’t you think?

What, like trying to turn Champ into a hurdler? McCoy must be well chuffed ...................

What is it, 2 years since he was moaning he had nowhere to run his quality horses? Jeez .....

    12.30 Clonmel Uncle Gerhard e/w 28/1

Ran a lot better than the bare result suggests in a better race than this last time out and can go close here.

It could be argued that Champ should never have been switched from hurdles in the first place.

Incidentally, he's currently 'blue' on Oddschecker re the Long Walk and as low as 4/1 for that heat! 20's for the actual Stayers crown.

One other thing re ante-post prices. That 40/1 for Remastered in the 'Pertemps Final' has all gorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn. Now best priced at 25's.

I kind of get it with Champ, he jumps like a Challenger tank and has had back issues. However he is so quick to change his targets because of who the horses might have to take on. Shishkin this weekend was a ridiculous call, but then, you do expect it of the forums 'favourite' trainer

Something must be amiss with the Henderson yard last few years I think. So in and out with declarations and actual runners.Has the Lieutenant lost the magic.

I think we all get more risk averse with age and he is 70 now. It might just be that, maybe also the Sprinter Sacre health issues knocked his confidence a bit?

Ran better than final unplaced placing as gave up a lot of lengths looking for softer ground on the inner

I don't see why it can't be looked at as an art the way he picks the races to give his horses the best possible chance. If the ground is going against them or he knows the horse isn't schooling well and shouldn't be running, why shouldn't he be savvy and pull them out?
