Anyone watching Villa v Leicester? When did they change the rules re goalkeepers only needing to have 1 hand on the ball?
How he follows them in Olivers case will frequently depend on who is playing. And in Clattenburgs case he is on record as stating that he has refereed matches to his own agenda so its clearly not as simple as that.
A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball with the hand(s) when: the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands or arms except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save Correct decision.
Won the ball back with an obvious foul though, just like the Jota chance that hit Coady on the line. Pushing the defender into the keeper right in front of Stevie Wonder, the linesman.
So what does the stuff after "except" mean? The ball did rebound from the keeper, therefore the rest is negated, surely?
Yeah, it's very badly phrased, so you can't tell if the "except" applies to the whole thing or not. Dermot Gallagher seems to think that the Law has been applied correctly, but he would. Having watched it back again in slow motion, I think Ramsey kicks through Schmeichel's thumb. That's now what was given though, so I assume this is how it'll be interpreted in the future.
