Big club with entitled fans syndrome and apparently they want to be entertained as well as win the league by 20 points.

You would have thought that they have been in the 3rd tier long enough to know that entertainment and promotion from said 3rd tier is virtually impossible imho, listening to Ipswich fans on 606 on Saturday they are the same, but hey Ashton kept his job and the manager has paid the price, I would suspect that Cook unlike LJ is more likely to lift the lid on what was allowed to happen under Ashton.

    Popcorn at the ready.

    We managed it under Cotts!

Out of interest I just checked how Shrewsbury are doing - not very well - 19th and 2 points above the drop zone. Maybe Cott's season with us was a 'one-off' and he isn't such a good manager after all?

I doubt it, managers can't take the risk on spilling the beans on the behind the scenes goings-on at clubs for fear they would never be employed again.

But also dug in when we needed to, we could fight when we had to and at times it didn't have to be pretty and the players and fans have to realise and buy into that in the 3rd tier, that is the difference.

To be fair with their paltry budget it would take a miracle if they were not involved in a relegation scrap.

Their replacement has to sort there **** out.
And you expect him to produce miracles with the squad he has inherited.
Give him the windows then judge him this time next year.

Indeed much the same at Ipswich now as well, 65 scatter cushions for us and already 19 this season for Ipswich, it is a poor strategy and will never work in the long term, because at some stage you are bound to get too close to FFP restrictions and that is almost certainly what has happened with us.

With Streaky it will depend on how the Sunderland senior management view his little hissy fit, but it could well be the beginning of the end for him if he can't take a little abuse as the fans won't ease up on him

Now this might be utter rubbish, but I've heard that SL is able to 'massage' his Bristol Sport empire to get around some of the FFP restrictions.
Allegedly he simply charges Bristol Bears rent for Ashton Gate and that goes towards the income of the football club. When he wants to invest more of his money with BCFC he increases the rent - quite a simple model really.
I've been told that he also charges the women's team and the Flyers for the use of the training facilities - a much smaller sum of course but income nonetheless.
For now, SL can simply 'bankroll' the Rugby club, the women and the basketball and cover their rent payments.
It's only the football club that he's not allowed to 'bankroll' directly.

As I said it might be rubbish but that's what I have been told.

Another former City employee at Ipswich
As you've probably realised by now, Paul Cook was sacked by Ipswich Town on Saturday with the Tractor Boys 11th in League One after a summer of huge overhaul and investment at Portman Road.

Former Colchester boss John McGreal has been placed in interim charge and will be joined in Suffold by Rene Gilmartin, once of this parish, as his No2.

Gilmartin was released this summer after two years at City with no first-team appearances having acted as third/fourth-choice goalkeeper and part-time coach.

He follows ... and we'll try not to forget anyone ... Mark Ashton, Luke Werhun, Andy Rolls, Andy Costin and Gary Probert in moving from City to Ipswich since the summer, albeit with a brief stop in Swindon on the way.

pretty much what I posted last week, a collective paying toward the common goal [ no pun intended!...lol ] with stadium making own profit and that profit reduces costs all round. New "backers" would enhance the equity[ !] but supply a pot of money to spend on football club!
Stadium is wholly owned by Bristol sport??? Training centre was separate investment stream ... remember it was posted how many "shares" SL alledgedly cashed in pre stadium and training ground!
