I think what yesterday showed is how much we missed Wallace and Adomah, they would have given Willock and Chair more scope to get at the Stoke backline by giving us additional threat. Puzzled that Johansen kept popping up so much on the right when he's so left-footed. Stoke are a hard watch but O'Neil has them very well organised at spoiling. They won't win many friends but will be in the mix come May.

I think I saw a tweet yesterday saying 42 shots on goal in our 2 home defeats this season, just unfortunate yesterday their keeper played out of his skin. The potential loss of Chair and Dieng is a real worry...

FWIW we had a very good xG and their keeper got into the team of the week.

Those two goals was caused by mistake from midfield (Dozzell) when we was in a good attacking position trying to be too clever v Stoke & Barbet v derby poor distribution from the back & then two quick passes caught us out so blame is with both defence/midfield

Aunts and Uncles but if the pen had gone in, we'd have won.
how many of the 12000 R's fans wanted Chas to take it? Not me.
Willock or Johansen i would have thought.

Why wouldn’t he take it? There’s not another obvious candidate. For all his faults I trust him more than most for a pressure penalty.

    Me three.

Although when he stepped up, quite assertively, I was confident he would score, and after his rather pathetic attempt I was glad it was him who missed and not someone the crowd would get on to or who would lose confidence. Austin got magnificent support after the howler.

And if someone else had taken it and missed I would have been yelling that Austin should have taken it……

Well Windsor, your confidence was unfounded. I take it you never went to the Sunderland match? In the same way i didn't want Barbet or Chair near it, why would anyone want Austin to take it. Don't get you, sorry.

I mean there’s just not a really obvious candidate. Austin is generally immobile outside the box but for a pressure situation of just striking the ball he tends to be reliable. ****ed it yesterday of course.

Willock/Chair/Johansen/Dozzell/Barbet in theory might strike the ball cleanly (Sunderland excepted) but you want your experienced striker taking penalties unless they’ve decided in training someone else will. We had Bidwell taking them not long ago.

As per the fans forum last week Warburton is well aware of the risks in playing two wing backs at this level and the pressure that puts on the back three when teams attack on the break. Sadly this is particularly true when your key centre back lacks pace and I have lost count of the number of chances we have coughed up where Dickie (the best I have seen at QPR for years in all other departments BTW) gets isolated one-on-one. I think we are stuck with this trade-off for the foreseeable future so we'd better hope that the excellent attacking play we have seen so much of outweighs the risks at the back. There are worse things in football.

Windsor. In theory, I get your logic. But, at the time, i thought, please let's not let Austin take it and then i saw the ball in his hands and thought *&^%$ no.
I don't even want to say ITYS as it was such an important miss.

I think that's the first championship penalty Austin has missed.
Scored 14 out of 14 before that.
As it happens, I had a feeling he was going to miss, but statistically, he was a good bet.

    All true.
I would say that a dedicated defensive midfielder, maybe Field, would offer a bit more protection to the back 3.
    We currently don't employ one.

In my opinion, Dickie's chronic lack of pace could well prevent him from playing any higher.

Another reason why we miss Eze. Loved his pens, not just that he scored but how he did it. Worth rewatching which most aren't.

You would have hoped that Austin would be mobile enough to at least take a run-up to the penalty.

Spot on about the way Stoke tactically out played us and that we possibly shouldn't have played with wing backs.
Very over the top concerning their keeper though, especially describing the save from the Austin volley as if it was a worldy.
It wasn't just under the bar or anywhere near. It was a save, like all the others that every keeper in the championship would have been disappointed to have not made.
It is great that we have so many attempts, but we need to be more clinical more often.
