Not sure if there is any relevance but just thought I would share this little fact about the Ascot bumper. Last year Nicholls had two runners, the favourite ridden by Harry Cobden and the second string ridden by daughter Megan. The second string won.
Uttoxeter 2.30 Bring The Action Return from a break was encouraging last time out at Exeter and stable amongst the winners recently. Solid each way chance in my opinion.
The german runner who was entered in the bumper at Ascot today misses it due to covid restrictions according to a german racing site: https://galopponline.de/news/galopp-news/kein-estacas-start-ascot
It is a poor race for favs too, in 10 renewals to date, no favourite has won. (I was going to add that David Pipe has won 3 of those 10 renewals - but he has no runner today. I was also going to add that 9 of 10 winners had had a previous run, but that applies to 11 of the 12 runners so is of little help when looking for the winner). To be honest I am struggling to find a stand-out piece of form amongst the 11 runners - even Top Dog's form behind Bonttay at Cheltenham doesn't look mesmerising - the winner has won again against her own sex but those behind have achieved little. So the one I am going for is Gary Moore's Authorised Speed, who was a warm order to make a winning debut at Market Rasen but got absolutely murdered in the home straight before running on really well to finish a fast-closing 2nd. Blue on oddschecker this morning.
As a punter I’d want to take him on, but as a fan I want him to be a superstar. As such I will be just watching and enjoying.
It would be nice to see old boy Bardd get his head in front again in the next at Uttoxeter - been a while between drinks for him (his trainer is yet to have a snifter of a victory too) Buzz out of the Long Walk with a fractured pelvis - fingers crossed for a speedy recovery
Thanks, Nass, noticed this yesterday too, but since I do not Tweet, in fact never have had anything to do with social media stuff, could not fully get the Timeform analysis. So, think I will have a sporting Rev. Forecast: Knappers Hill/Elle Est Belle Enjoy the weekend racing fellas, excellent fare, good luck with your wagers!
Nordano the only course winner in the opener at Ascot and looks like he could be finding a bit of form
Think, on breeding, Top Dog would prefer faster ground? So, if I had a bet it would have to be Henri The Second, .
Its a race to watch rather than get heavily involved in. I thought you might find the Gifford runner interesting, not usually a yard to tilt at windmills.
Lived in south-east Germany for a long long time, and have always found that German flat racing has never had the country-wide support it deserves. Harness racing (trotting gait only allowed, no pacing) still very popular, but for betting the Germans are crackers about betting on football! Just a personal opinion, but I have always found this slightly barmy, but to each his own.
