It’s kind of a saving grace that it’s on Bt so to watch I’d have to go onto laptop and log in. Means haven’t really watched much other than couple hours of the first match.

First and second part of the prediction is right. Another dismal performance by most of the batsman.

Root and Malan again only ones to do half decent but again both couldn’t go on to get 100

The Australians have absolutely got burns on toast. He has absolutely no defense at all as his bat is not straight and they just put the ball in the right area and he is done.

Hameed is also on toast now after being quickly figured out. He needs 2 years of games to make up for lost time as he lost a huge amount of development.

They have the rest for dessert and the mains were malan and root.

I'd say they have to be conservative in their outlook as they could have had this lot on an innings defeat here but allowed england a bowl.

Probably a good idea to wear out anderson and board for next game.

Will I turn on to watch england get skittled with the new ball after lunch?

    Do I need to bother?

4 wickets left. Broad and anderson in there.

Shag all from any england batsman to worry about.

England making some sort of attempt to not actually get battered 5-0. 1 session to go… butler broad Anderson. Can’t see it but stranger things have happened.

Saying that, broad prob go first over after tea and Anderson will then follow soon after.

    England bummed by Australia again.

I forsee a whitewash, followed by 'we will learn from this', followed by nothing changing.

I hate to blame football (on a football forum and I love football otherwise I wouldn't spend so much time on here) but if this country wasn't so obsessed by the game, especially at school and junior level) other sports might get a look in for facilities, coaching and talented kids.

I mean Sports personality team of the year went to England and coach to Southgate, who won nothing. Compared to a list of other nominees who all won something.
Its no wonder we're becoming **** at other sports.

Tbf I think it’s just cycles. We focussed so heavily on white ball cricket over the last 5-10 years and kids coming through want to play white ball cricket that we just aren’t producing quality test batsmen.

I don’t think it helps having 18 county teams as well, as much as I’d hate to lose them as my team, Sussex, are one of the smaller so would likely to be one to go if they reduced the numbers.

But look at other countries and they have smaller leagues with higher quality. Means batsmen and bowlers have to be top quality to get in and your always facing better players etc.

Lets be realistic though, we’re always **** in Australia because they play on hard wuick bouncy pitches where the ball doesn’t move. We don’t produce bowlers that suit those conditions.

Its the same in most away tours for all teams. There’s such a huge difference in conditions across the 8 major playing nations that your always going to be at a huge disadvantage.

No sorry, cricket is a summer sport and has missed the boat through being a complete shower of glaziers as t20, ipl and all sorts have passed them by. Cricket is still for whatever reason a minority sport dominated by white faces so it has also systematically failed in bringing in the communities it should have.

All that aside england have been shambolic all year with the india tour and on and on and on resting players and focusing on short form cricket.

The england set up deserves everything coming here. Australia are not even top 2 in the world. They are going to ream england though.

England have one batsman total and a couple veteran bowlers and the rest might as well be playing odi

    It's all so depressing.

The batsman failed so miserably again and Root comes out, heart on his sleeve and says "we should have bowled fuller". I mean WTF? The bowlers are constantly getting the heat for poor batting. Look at Australia played, they left the ball well. England can't stop themselves from wafting at balls they should leave particularly when they've not even got set yet i.e. in the first 20-30 balls.

Having said that, we should have bowled fuller!

Should be sacked as captain if he blames bowlers for this mess.

The pitch was easy. This should have been and easy draw as the pitch simply didnt go down hill very rapidly.

Wafting is the tight word. Most of them have zero technique. Straight bat is not precisely their strength

Don’t think he blames the bowlers. Just said we needed to bowl fuller which is obviously true. Then also said that we needed more from the batting which is true.

Was just **** all round bar Malan who provided a decent knock

Not a main line batsman and barely in the all rounder group. The first of the tail in fact.

    Burns has been comprehensively destroyed.
Hameed was figured out in 1 innings and learnings he simply has not have exposed.
    Malan has done ok
Root marginally ok. 1 decent innings from 4.
    Pope fairly useless.
Stokes, shouldn't be there still be fighting to get fit and form.
Buttler. Totally exposed technically but had a fight as a blocker

Woakes is a decent all rounder
    Robinson is real tail ender
Broad stopped batting after getting grilled and has never been the same
Anderson is on toast every innings for past 5/6 years.

The issue for me is any of the top 5 just get their bat straight and let australia have the first 20 overs or so they will blow out and it gets.much easier. The first 2 are usually gone for 10.

After root and malan theres about 50 bloody runs between the rest till the tail swings the bat a bit.

Australia have a real issue once the ball gets past its newest phase but theres no england players hanging round enough.

Blaming bowlers is rich. The single tactic allowed was bash it in short (stokes) with field set for that. Amazing stuff really.

Anderson went for 1 run and over on average ffs. Bolwer "fuller"

Maybe tell burns to stop dropping them and buttler to chill the **** out and do the job?

Or maybe I dunno. Sack the management

I was being sarcastic with the Woakes comment tbh lads.

We can't bat and we can't catch as a team
