So have any members looked into their Crystal Balls and 'seen' what will happen in 2022??? The alternative question, for those who don't have 'the gift', would be - What are your predictions for 2022??? At the Cheltenham Festival I think horses trained outside of Seven Barrows and Ireland will have the same appalling and pathetic strike rate as last year. Meanwhile, those obliging include Blazing Khal, Galopin Des Champs, Jonbon, Klassical Dream and Redemption Day. In the 1,000 Guineas I'd be absolutely amazed if Tenebrism doesn't win. She looked awesome when winning her Group 1 as a 2YO. Onto Royal Ascot, but sticking to the same Cheveley Park formline, its Flotus for me in The Commie Cup and if WP, I say WP, Mullins chucks Blazing Victory in The Gold Cup I'd be hopeful of her running a huge race at a huge price. Over The Channel I think a Japanese horse will finally win The Arc. I won't predict any particular race win but I think a huge horse in 2022 will be Mr Charlton's Chef De Partie. He's a lovely bred 3YO Siyouni colt and a half-brother to both Extra Elusive (dual Group 3 winner) and Ajaya (Group 2 winner). Chef Du Partie was 5th in his only run as a 2YO (in a hot maiden at the St Leger meeting) but should be some prospect when he next appears. My most confident forecast, of all, is that Senior Citizen will win The Topham. The big bet to have, over the National fecnces in '22, may not be in the big race itself, people! I predict the old boy Gosden / Dettori creature alliance will end at some point in 2022. With Ryan Moore filling the riding vacancy. Meanwhile, expect fireworks between old boy Gosden and Shadwell. The former is still fuming about the latter over-ruling him re Mostahdaf. They insisted he ran in the £80k Darley Stakes rather than the £1.25M Champion Stakes. Rightly or wrongly old boy Gosden is convinced this Shadwell decision cost him the 2021 Trainers title. Finally, Lieutenant Henderson will surely be knighted this year for services to horse racing and all round good eggishness. But will he be Sir Lieutenant or Lieutenant Sir??? Something to find out before the big day as to get that wrong would etiquettically be a terrible faux pas. Oh and if the word 'etiquettically' doesn't already exist it will by the end of 2022. Happy New Year, people. Really, really hope 2022 is a good one for everyone.
Cor blimey that is outstanding value in my opinion. Since posting the above I've also read the 'leader' on the Racing Post website and see that its 5/2 that Ireland will have 20, or more, winners at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival (tally was 23 in 2021).
Predictions for the Championship races on each of the 4 days of the Cheltenham festival: Tuesday - Champion Hurdle: Honeysuckle Wednesday - Queen Mother Champion Chase: Shishkin Thursday - Stayers Hurdle: Klassical Dream Friday - Cheltenham Gold Cup: Galvin
That 5/2 all gorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn and the price is now 6/4! Other quotes re the number of Irish trained winners at the Festival are 18+ is 2/5, 19+ 4/5, 24+ 11/2. British trained to win 10+ races is 10/11. Quite frankly think that quote appalling.
Exactly - Elliott has led the way in terms of Irish trainers getting horses into the festival handicaps on winning marks and the last few years have showed that others are becoming equally adept. Just look at the Pertemps Final in its various guises - from its inception in 1974 until 2015 you could just about count the Irish winners on one hand. They have now taken the last 6 renewals. They have won 4 of the last 6 renewals of the Coral Cup (only Lieutenant Henderson's two victories preventing worse). 8 of the last 12 County Hurdles (only Skelton and Nicholls have won it for the UK). 4 of the last 6 Festival Plates. 4 of the last 6 Kim Muirs. The last 4 Fred Winters. 6 of the last 10 Martin Pipes. The only handicaps the Irish haven't farmed are the 3 mile handicap chase on day 1 and the Grand Annual. They seem once again to have the better novices across all divisions and, with the exception of Shishkin in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, look to have the championship races at their mercy.
City Island did Seriously though, I hope Champ can be re-invented as a staying hurdler as it would add greatly to the race.
Oddy, if that came in i will be very happy... Have them all in an small accy, and would be pleasantly pleased...
Yeah, did the bet after Klassical Dream won the other day... £10 bet, half of it a free £5 bet i had open, so effectively a fiver... Returns just over £1,000...
I think Flooring Porter might have a good shout in that stayers yet. Klassical Dream was keen as hell the last day and stole 8 to 10 lengths at the start. If all make it to Cheltenham FP won't be caught cold and will likely try make the running. That being said Klassical Dream and himself could punch each other out too but I think Townend will try hold on to him with the variation in track difficulty. An interesting race. My prediction is Flooring Porter to lead pillar to post and win.
Sounds like “Once every Preston Guild,” I don’t know what price you got for Galvin the other day, but tell me your bookie…I’ll have some of it!
