Just like we rested Gareth Bale when he came through at 17 and Theo at 17. I don't think so. This is just bad luck. I don't think playing a youngster each week is asking too much
Most footballing meniscus tears come from repetitive contact injuries, so I wouldn't be surprised if its just been an accumulation of knocks over half the season. As said elsewhere, if he's been cleared to play by the Drs/Medical team, then I don't see any problem with it.
Using the what-about-him argument, you’re always gonna be able to pluck out examples to support any opinion. Walcott, since you mention him, only played half the games in his first season. Not a great example. Bale went on to have a couple of years of injury issues at Spurs. Im not saying young players will definitely always get injured. But it just seems common sense not to put too much stress on their bodies, since they are literally only just out of childhood.
There’s only one metric we can use for seeing if he was overworked, that’s the number of games he’s played in the red zone. That’s a game without at least five days rest. Problem is, there’s too much football and the pressure is so high that what else can you do? Every player who is the top player at their club has red zone minutes or is hurt already or has covid. Because clubs will invariably play the best players that they can put out in any given game. Football does not care. It’s not any different to a player getting a massive blow to the head and carrying on, then training and having another game a few days later. Instead the top clubs want more football. So they can flog washing machines in Malaysia for even more money.
I understand but there could have been a promise of a certain amount of games in the first team if he joined us.
We are so starved for rumours that we must not forget that there isn’t going to be truth in every single one This is a guy who is trying to negotiate the best free transfer contract he can. Leaking premier league interest and picking a club that is known to be looking at goalkeepers and just had a takeover seems pretty standard. As would the Mail making it up using the same logic I just mentioned
He`s a very good keeper, but I don`t know if he`s PL quality. The switch from Scotland worked for Antti Niemi though!
Apparently Tino is back in training already! What’s going on? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...nto-avoid-surgery-potential-injury-boost.html
"manager Ralph Hasenhuttl says there is a 'little bit of hope' that Tino Livramento will avoid surgery on his injured knee." We know what hope does.
Individual training, not team training. No new fluid on the knee, but he won’t be available for tomorrow.
Seems a bit risky to me, rather he had at least couple of weeks rest, especially as KWP will be back for the weekend Better rest a while than be out for the rest of the season
Great news whatever training he's doing. Even if he's out for 3/4 weeks, that's better than 6 months as I was expecting.
