My positivity was based on the fact that the performance was better than I expected against an in form top team. We kept them out for 42 minutes and it took a very well executed shot to put them ahead. Idah didn't hit the post, his shot into the top corner was deflected on to the post by the keeper and he had a 7.2 rating on WhoScored which is pretty amazing. Had his goal gone in it would have been 1-1 and we could have concentrated on defending the draw. They didn't get their second goal until the 83rd minute, finally ending our chance of a draw. That we fought and were competitive for 83 minutes was what I saw as encouraging. If we can do that against Everton and Watford we still have a chance.
I've heard it said by fans of numerous other clubs, but on reflection we are an absolute embarrassment to this league. It's going to take more than re-investing any money should Cantwell leave to turn that around
We aren't going to break into the £300m plus club anytime soon . Everton squad cost £400m Bayern costs about £350m. I don't want Delia selling out to a foreign billionaire so the best we can hope for is to reinvest the TV money and gradually improve. It's pretty clear we are going down, the expensive loanees will go back and we will promote a few academy boys into the first team next season. I've followed Norwich for long enough to not get embarrassed when we stink the place up. I would be more embarrassed if we remortgaged all our assets and pissed the money away on "World class " talent. We played brilliantly against Man United and the guy that dived and scored the penalty Ronaldo is on $60m a year ... We just need to accept the scraps from the top table and use the money wisely to secure a future for our club. I have no problem being the over achieving underdogs
According to Transfermarket our current squad is worth £158m Burnley are worth about £118m Brentford about £190m Watford about £133m We are the small fries of the league and most likely to finish in the bottom 3, Brentford are riding the wave of being in the top league but will probably go down next season . Newcastle will most probably buy success and Watford will get dragged into the **** with us and Burnley. The other 16 sides are all way beyond £200m squads .
Spot on Dunc and I don't see why we are an embarrassment when there are two established PL club's only one point ahead of us. What have they been doing with all of their PL money all of these years? We're a self financing club who dominated the Championship twice to earn our chance. Fulham pour money into new players and still get relegated each time. I admire what Brentford have managed so far on the adrenalin of promotion but they still have a way to go. Sheffield United survived one year when everything went right and then they dropped down to struggle in the Championship and they're down in the bottom half again this year. There is nothing easy about what we are trying to do. We can't afford top wages so have to depend on bargain players or up and coming young players who stay for their development then move on for a profit. Other PL clubs don't have to do that. I will never accept that the club I support is an embarrassment to prima Donna clubs who can throw rich owners' money around whenever they like.
I really hate the head holding that's come into the game, VAR need to start handing out yellow cards if it's shown on a replay that no contact to a head was made. However, now I've seen a replay of Krul on Vlasic it should've been a straight red and penalty, not that I think he was injured enough for him to lie on the floor for 2 mins but it's a definite violent conduct (just for the record, I hate the blatant obstruction of GKs on corners). https://www.reddit.com/r/Hammers/comments/s2hy7g/kruls_foul_on_vlasic/ If it's any consolation you aren't the worst team we've played this season.
We lost, but were less rubbish than I thought we would be. I know we milked the luck fairy dry last year, but surly we should get some soon and get a dodgy win or two. We're awful, but so nearly not awful it's frustrating. I keep watching the games and it's gaaa addictive.I must have something wrong with me. Surly we can get something against Everton and Watford? Normann where are you? Lets be 'avin you!
Oh my God you are right . Straight red penalty and I'm guessing he's pressing charges for attempted murder ? I'm surprised he survived. It's only natural to back into a goalkeeper putting the back of your head into his teeth .
lol, unsurprising you see it that way nonuts, you've always been one of the village idiots of not606.
Sorry Ern, I have to agree with Dunc and VAR - that's absolutely not violent conduct. It's standard (irritating for everyone) grappling in the box and Vlasic is deliberately obstructing. It makes sense that VAR looked at that and said that Vlasic was the one interfering. Goalkeepers are protected species in the box, rightly so given how important they are.
We also have to accept that for the past 3 and a half years our play has been based around the brilliance of Buendia, and we are now trying to find a different way of playing with a fairly high turnover of players in the summer
sorry, but he's grabbed him around the neck in a head-lock and used that to throw him to the floor, that's even a foul in American football.
Next time we get a V.A.R decision that I don't like I'm going to record the moment on my phone and join Reddit.
Could perhaps do with the clip starting earlier to see if Vlasic was messing with Krul before (or what had happened on previous corners), but to me that looks like Vlasic does the standard "stand in front of the goalkeeper" routine and Krul goes well overboard to move him out of the way. I'd want a penalty if that was on Pukki, but equally I know we wouldn't get it...
Sorry guys, I'll have to pass on the next game, agent C19 has caught up with me - and knocked the stuffing out of me.
Hope you get better soon Cromer. Omicron has that energy sapping effect, from what those I know who've had it tell me. Take care of yourself mate.
I had a cough for about 3 weeks over Christmas waking up with hangover symptoms every morning. Think I may have had it
