Yeah he likes the humdrum noise, keeps him sleepy. I just rock the pushchair (a few evil eyes for taking up so much space, but I ignore them) and cradle my pint gently.
Highlights: Feel like the XI today is probably the blueprint for at least the next few weeks? Through lack of other options if not because it worked today. Gilmour, Normann, McLean probably all unavailable for 7+ days still, Rupp and Omobamidele maybe get time in the FA Cup game.
It was amazing how the goals brought confidence and teamwork as there was something to play for. The balance also seemed good as the FBs were seldom caught out when they went forward. Sargent and Rashica were effective in attack but also dropped back to defend. Our passing also seemed better and it was Everton who seemed to struggle in the first half. They were better in the second half as we focused on game management but our nerve held, though it was desperately tense.
I took my potential future son in law (hardcore Everton fan) to the game today as he was down. The last game I took him to was the Arsenal game. Talk about chalk and cheese. That was the best performance and atmosphere I have seen in a very long time. Commitment and composure were there in abundance today - especially in the first half. There were several who could have been named MOM as well as Idah - including Williams, Rashica and dare I say it - Sargent. There were no passengers today. What really impressed me most was the intelligent play - Idah playing to the corner in the final few minutes being a prime example. I just hope this gives us the much needed shot in the arm and we build on it.
Yeah I thought that was off, "Hurr Durr I haven't done the most basic research to find out how to pronounce a name before 'analysing' their performance"
I'm not the sort to keep rubbing it in by continually posting "I told you so". But I do wish people would stop being so negative about next season in the Championship. Yesterday we looked like a team again, playing a style of football much better suited to our resources and our summer recruitment.
IF we pull off a miracle and stay up you will probably delete your account In disgust. When we lose you always chip Inn with statistics of doom , when we occasionally win you are always otherwise engaged. You seem to live for misery like a little Doom Goblin
In all fairness to McLean, this is the first time I have seen Sørensen play well in midfield. All his other good performances have come when he has filled in elsewhere. Think McLean will have a tough time getting back in if Sørensen continues like he played yesterday! PLM looked like a different player. That's the sort of performance that makes me say he will be decent should we go down. PLM, Hanley, Sørensen, Gibson, Idah (possibly) and Sargent. All looked good yesterday against what was effectively a top Championship side (with one or two PL level players). Think they will run the Champ much like Vrancic, Stiepermann, Hernandez, McLean and Tettey. All of whom never made the step up.
At least Shearer didn't spend the whole time talking about Richarlason's overhead kick, and they actually spoke about how well Idah had played!
Having watched it this morning I think it was one of Lineker's linked jokes. The match commentator clearly knew it was Eedah and so did Lineker who wanted his joke about eether or eyether. It was like his 'one man, Normann, the main man joke some time back. All a bit pathetic but I agree that Shearer at least made up for it with his analysis of Adam's play.
