No meltdown for me, first wasn’t a penalty as every replay from every angle showed Bedders clearly got the ball which changed direction by 90 degrees. The second was a balls up by Forster and the third a break away when we were pressing in injury time. Yet again poor finishing cost us but what a goal from JWP The substitution at half time seemed to work against us as we weren’t so good or fluent without Diallo in midfield On to next week for the easiest game of the year
But they must be unbelievably fit, as their recovery time after each near-death experience they had was incredibly fast
Agreed! There was a time when players thumped the ground after breaking their leg /damaging ligaments (being genuinely badly injured) but now it seems to be done and seconds later they are up and playing again. Whoever said there’s no MOTM and instead it’s a BAFTA hit the nail in the head.
Can someone copy the shoulder barge, by Salisu towards the end, and send it to the head of the referees and ask why they are calling these as fouls? Not sure if Salisu was carded for it, or for his reaction to the linesman flagging it as a foul, but boy does it bloody annoy me when these challenges are penalised.
Whilst I thought it was OK at the time, I think the answer is that you can use your shoulder in a 50-50 situation but he probably suspected that Salisu had no eye on the ball (other than to take control after the fall)
Didn't see any of the game. But just seen the JWP free kick. OMG that is ridiculous. He didn't even take it like he normally does as it was so far out it needed more power. That was special.
One more and he equals beckhams record. He is the best (current) free kick specialist in the world. edit he’s 6 behind beckham
Would be interested to see the stats for conversion from attempts on goal from direct free kicks. I don't feel like we get many, particularly this season whereas you would assume that Beckham playing for that Man Utd team would have had plenty of chances.
Sad face emoji. tough game, not helped by having Salisu’s cousin from non-league Morpeth stepping in. Plenty of positives and cracking last 30, shame we couldn’t capitalise on that worldie from JWP. Goal of the season contender.
Been out all day and just caught up. The result will be forgotten but **** me that JWP goal will be remembered.
Interesting the MOTD bunch don't think the decision should have been overturned for Wolves' penalty, as it wasn't a clear and obvious error by the ref not to award it. Tend to agree.
Me too. The inconsistency does my head in. I though we were worth a draw a least - oh well, next match please.
If you play like today and lose it is frustrating but certainly not a concern. Thought we were decent.
I would agree if Bednarek hadn't had a second nibble by lifting his leg up. The fist part of his challenge was inconclusive and he might have got away with that on it's own.
