Never rated him for Aberdeen to be honest. He was captain and very hard working but an extremely limited player I thought. Absolutely horrendous for Scotland. Saying that he seems to have done well at Derby. So I may be wrong its a good chance he may find his level in League one. For his age and wages I would hope we could do better.
Wigan, penniless, no pots to piss in, going up the wall, next thing you know they're paying big wages. Aye class.
Was on good money at Derby apparently. Wigan seem to chucking money at it. Magennis will be on decent money as well you would imagine. I wouldnt mind knowing what the wage bill at Wigan is.
Hope so mate, and our transfer business this year has been very good. I cant help feeling those who have the best January window will go and get automatic promotion.
Agree. I've been really happy with our new recruitment strategy lately. So I'm very hopeful for this window. We've got a very talented but weak team. On our day we are outstanding but we desperately need to sign some steel in midfield and defense. So we can grind out results when needed. If that's not addressed this window I can't see us putting an end to these dodgy runs we seem to have.
Good article seems to sum up most peoples thoughts on strengthening the team. Next couple of weeks will be interesting see if the club feels the same way https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...roberts-is-exciting-but-we-need-more-and-soon
Agree, that just about sums it up. The recruitment in the summer was great, after leaving us worried for a while. Just need to do it again.
I (like most fans I assume) would rather sign the right player in the last week of the window than just sign whoever is available in the 1st week For years this club has had absolutely no strategy and just signed players who were willing to come whether they were needed or not - Rodwell was a prime example of that. The scatter gun recruitment in Jan 2018 when Coleman was in charge was also an example of this - sign injury prone players on a free and cross your fingers that they will suddenly stop being injury prone (Marc Wilson, Kazenga LuaLua). I am a big fan of the current strategy, i think Dennis Cirkin has been one of the best signings this club has made in recent years. Hopefully Huggins can get fit and start challenging. Winchester was a hidden gem and the same could be said for Ross Stewart. If Roberts and Flint signs they will be excellent additions but we need a presence in midfield
Great post TC. We need to build a solid foundation and learn from our mistakes of the past. Don't get me wrong, i want us to be in the PL but if to do that amd be able to stay there means 3-5 years of slowly building then i'm ok with that
Pretty much my thoughts. I would add a centre forward to the list as well. I am sure the club are on it and will do the best thing for us.
Spot on mate. We have a good approach to signing players now. Nearly all have looked to slot in to the style we play. I think we need 3 more now to give us a chance of top 2, CF, CM, CB and I am confident the top team are working on it.
