Easy to see why. We have always had a good reputation for developing young talent but especially now Tino & Broja have gone from nobodys (in terms of your average fan) to premier league regulars who everyone is now talking about.
Didn't @AberdeenSaint mention that we were looking at him a couple of weeks ago, or did he just recommend him?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...er-League-club-spend-transfers-FFP-rules.html This doesn't make good reading, 3rd from bottom on the FFP list of money we can spend. £37m. How is this Fair Play?
Except this list clearly isn’t completely right is it? Everton have spent money this window And Villa seem to be as well. It’s because of some very bad historical buys / contracts and appalling commercial and sponsorship revenue. Also owners can put in a certain amount each year and we have done none of that
Those are the maximum loss FFP figures. We're toward the bottom because we've been hemorrhaging money. Also worth noting: because of the way transfers are structured, there isn't a direct correlation between those figures and the actual transfer fees we can pay. Basically, with the possible exception of Everton, the max loss portion of FFP affects absolutely no one in practical terms. Even with the pandemic.
Saints were credited in the local rag with an interest a couple of weeks ago. Really good player, but lacks physicality which will come in due course.
Wolves should take that. He is possibly one of the most over rated players I have ever seen. Wouldn't want him at Saints for £15m
Given he's only got 18 months left on his contract they won't get much more than that. Not an unreasonable first offer.
This could be interesting. FIFA looking to stop the wholesale loaning out of players, which could force clubs to stop hoovering up all the young talent, or force them into selling them on. Won’t come into effect for a few years but when it does clubs will only be able to loan out 6 players above the age of 21. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60068543
Give it 10 years and the multi-club ownership model will be common place, at least amongst top sides. Not allowed to loan out players? No bother, just sign them at your feeder club and let them develop there.
It’s going to be challenging for Chelsea who generally have over 40 players out on loan every season Could work in our favour as well as FFP
An Echo headline suggesting that West Ham are lining up a “late January” bid for Broja. Couldn’t read the full report, so have no idea how tentative their suggestion is, and if it is full of “we believe” or “we understand” comments etc. Surely we have Broja until the end of the season?
