By little people I'm meaning the rank and file ... those attending the Downing St parties would not have included many, if any, of those... senior civil servants and ministerial aids are often public school educated themselves ... point I was trying to make was that Boris and his cronies would have been publicly condemning a rave in Croydon during the lockdowm whilst happily taking part in 'works drinks' after a 'hard day's graft' in office... without a modicum of self awareness or recognition of irony ...

The BBC is Arcaic, pointless and very expensive (look at what they pay most of their "big" names)
There are so many other channels now putting out better programs and more educational content than them which makes them pretty useless.
I heard an argument today about all the overseas broadcasts they do for ex-pats etc, great, do all overseas listeners pay the license to receive them?

Fair enough. See I don't mind a reasoned balanced opinion. All that will happen though is he will be replaced by another Tory, and heaven help us when it comes to another GE unless Labour sort their act out. Imagine if they had been in power now, how would people have reacted to being locked down the same as Wales and Scotland over Christmas, would we have seen violence on the streets that were seen in some European Cities before Xmas. Just so many different angles to look at this from I feel.

I rarely watch anything on the BBC and when I do it's football related. Oh and one programme I watch on BBC4 I think it is. I begrudge paying them that money every year, when I'm either freesat or paying for Sky Sports.

I get the service for ex pats, but as you said, make them pay for it then, although not technically minded enough to know how they could achieve that. Maybe do the same as NOW TV, make it a monthly pay as you go subscription service, then I'd only have to pay, when I want to watch it.

The reason Boris is getting the heat is because he's in charge (at least he's supposed to be) and the buck stops with the boss.

As for the others, they are culpable, but they've obviously been given the green light by those in Boris' chain of command, so the whole thing demonstrates that he either doesn't give a ****e, or he's simply doesn't have a handle on what his ministers are doing and saying. It's sloppy at best, and that doesn't give the public confidence.

I actually don't think having a few drinks with work colleagues is the most heinous crime committed, but it's the fact that he's been at these parties personally, whilst at the same time telling everybody else they can't go and see dying loved ones, is why there's so much anger about it.

The one thing us Brits really take umbrage to, is the sense of unfair play. One rule for them and another for everybody else.

Sure that everyone who thinks he has taken the piss didn't bend/break the rules (not people on here, all law abiding citizens)

This isn't the worst thing that happened during or even before the pandemic. I still can picture that coach driver who drove the people from Italy to isolation.

No doubt there’s been all sorts of rule bending and breaking. But those people (who got caught) were subject to fines and reprimands.

Not the PM and his cronies though it seems. Although they might still yet…

I just think that if you’re in charge and you’re the one dishing out the rules, then you’d better make sure that you’re whiter than white and sticking to those rules religiously.

If you’re seen to be flagrantly disregarding them, then how can you expect others to follow them ?

So who made you the voice of the nation, you don't speak for me.

As for one rule for them and another for everyone else, you made an unneccessary journey during lockdown, driving hundreds of miles to collect a vechicle, then collected and took the virus all the way back to Cornwall. What was even more reckless, you gave no thought for the elderly people, you told us you kept helping during lockdown, so maybe you was on a mission to kill off the older population. Funniest part was you binning off said vehicle only weeks later, because it cramped your style. You like thousands of people across the UK, broke covid guidelines and never got fined. So the only fair play you care about is the ones that don't include YOU.

Have you rode pass them starving kids yet on your pushbike?

If you put a basket on the front of it, they could pretend to be ET.

Seems as though there's a growing number of Tory MP's submitting no confidence letters to the 1922 committee

Pork Pie plot seems like a fitting name to give it considering the wine n nibbles that underpin it all <laugh>

I see you will be legally able to watch the BBC in future mate, what with the Tories plan to scrap the TV licence. You'll be able to watch it along with the rest of 'us Brits' that's always paid - sense of fair play and all that.

That was the case Inspector Clouseau <laugh>

But I watch loads of it tbh. BBC News, Iplayer, MOTD etc.

I actually think the BBC offer pretty good value for money, given the content they produce.
