Hope to god I'm wrong but can't see us getting Defoe, surely there's a list as long as your arm, including maybe teams from abroad, that want him aswell.
Can't see him going abroad he did that with Toronto and couldn't wait to get back. I have a feeling he is up for it as be enjoyed his time here, it always seemed like he did.
Probably a daft question but is there anyway that if JD joined we could class him as a coach/player and save on wages. Thinking salary cap.
Sure there will be a long list, teams above us, not sure championship teams looking at auto promotion would be looking, obviously could be wrong, might get playoff pushing team, he knows where ever its likely to be limited game time...is the level crucial at this time? he knows were pushing for promotion he liked it here before setup / facilities are second to none facilities crucial to ageing player he knows the fans & has a bond he knows he would love it here!!! & its a yes to me those suggesting coach role too...so much experience....so much dedication....what a footballer should look & act like. Our model might not appear a fut for defoe, big picture, it is with the role model etc stuff mentioned & hes already proved this with Maja by mentoring & coaching....hes a perfect fit...player/coach the coach when he hangs boots up for me
I was under the impression that salaries could not be more than 60% of turnover Could be wrong of course but do recollect comments that we were near our limit during the last transfer window
Correct although not a "salary cap" as trditionally used in other sports. SCMP, in league 1 it restricts player wages to 60% of turnover http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php
Has the Defoe move gone quiet/away... If so has anybody got any inkling of who else is in the frame? Strikers are always the hardest to bring in.
JD i got options but everyone knows about Sunderland option Ally McCoist tells him to play long as he can
I think it would be nuts to send Flanagan out, especially on a loan deal. He has his flaws but has largely play well this season
