Last year was the curse of the Centre Backs, this year has been the curse of the full backs - even the stand-in ones. At least we've got Trai Hume now to cover until Huggins is fit.
Must admit I was not expecting Hume to play much this season. Had a feeling he would be brought in gradually. Maybe need to throw him in now.
I reckon he might be an unexpected start on Saturday. He got a full 90 for the u23s the other day. At least some minutes off the bench on Sat
It looks like they play home games on a farmers field at the minute so I’m not surprised It is ridiculous how many injured players we have though
We have just bought a right back, though his lack of game time, or even on the bench probably means people have forgotten about him, Trai Hume
Was on the bench at weekend wasn’t he? Played 90 for u23’s the other night but in a more forward position.
It’s more likely that he played wing back I think. If people are going off the formations on score apps, they’re often wrong.
I'd ignored all the Defoe stuff because no one had said a word to me despite firing off a fair few messages. But I did get a text from a lad who has contact with a player who's most likely leaving SAFC. He says the club have spoken to Defoe and a move wouldn't be out of the question. With no transfer fee to consider the wages wouldn't be a problem and, if I was the club, I'd be offering him the chance to become part of the coaching team, do his papers and plan for the future. What better coach could young players have than a teetotal super-fit dedicated football player ... ... I don't care about his age, or whether he'd fit our style, he'd give the whole place a boost and would definitely score goals. Haway, get him in.
Bringing it on ourselves if a player gets a contact injury in training that requires a scan and leads to several weeks out. Ffs...when we're already suffering a number of injuries.......what's going on!
I think the signing, his presence and his general personality would lift the whole club regardless of what he can still do on the pitch. I really hope the club push this through as it could be the timely boost we need. I'd be gutted if he ended up at another L1 club
Yep 100% ! My thoughts are as follows - Listening to LJ, he appears somewhat negative (might be a wee bit strong that though) at a possibility of signing Defoe. He mentions "There has to many things to be right, and we're not there yet" He also says something on the lines of - the relationship between coach and player (suggesting this could be a sticking point) My thoughts on this is that LJ feels a tad threatened of the idea that a personality 'Bigger' than himself, maybe challenge things such as - team selection or playing time relating to Defoe. Maybe Defoe has asked for a few clauses including - A/ A coaching role B/ Playing time clause C/ For SAFC to support an ambition to put him through all levels of coaching badges D/ He wants to take all penalties .....etc Please LJ.....don't make a rod for your own back son. I reckon those in the Boardroom above LJ, and the supporters, want Defoe, more than LJ himself.....
Had a wee peek over the road (why do I do this?) and they are on full meltdown saying that if Defoe signs elsewhere it's because we are penny pinching and made a really low offer. Others saying he's no longer good enough at 39 (but will be equally fuming if we don't sign him). **** me, best thing I ever did was disable my account on that cesspit
I flick between both boards but post more over there and honestly, it’s full of complete and utter tits.
LJ's comments on Defoe seem to have been blown well out of proportion all over the place. Seemed pretty clear to me he was trying to not get people's hopes up, the way he does about all signings like this. It's just because its Defoe people want to be excited. Then when he want on the ramble about it being right for the coach and player in terms of relationship, that just seemed to me to be one of his classic rambles rather than anything specific on Defoe. If LJ didnt want Defoe, he'd bat the question away. If it definitely wasn't on, he'd bat it away. If he wants him but isn't certain we'll get him - he'll answer it the way he did.
Same. There are a handful of great posters I’ve there but I’d say 2/3 are complete bell ends. I’m convinced many are not even fans just wind up merchants.
Agreed. One of the last things I said over there before disabling was that there are some posters on there who would rather be right, than be happy. Their sole existence is to prove other people wrong and claim they are "rattled" etc. I think it's populated with a bunch of keyboard warrior bairns. It's nothing like the place it was 20 years ago when I first signed up
