To be fair, i dont personally know anyone who bothers testing anymore, whether rightly or wrong, is up to them to decide.
I am very interested as to why masks will no longer be required, have they suddenly stopped working?

It does seem a tad strange to not need masks anywhere suddenly.

I don’t think most of them worked anyway. Unless you have those FFP2 like the ones some builders use to stop small particles. Nearly all people made them worthless anyway?

I think it's a case of the government trying to lift restrictions on people, now they believe that the virus isn't so deadly.
    Perfectly acceptable imo.

Or it could be the government recognising that they will have an even bigger backbench rebellion if they try to renew some of the restrictions. It getting hard to divorce the public health from the politics.

Personally I’d have thought continuing to wear masks on trains, buses and planes at least might be wise for a few more weeks. COVID passes easy to drop as, by the evidence of the two games I’ve had to show mine at, they are not properly checked any way. The ‘go back to the office’ stuff only applies to those who had the option of working from home anyway. I think a lot of companies are going to have an interesting time sorting out how flexible flexible working can be, I’m already hearing of people voting with their feet at companies which are insisting on full time back in the office. ‘Back to the office’ is really about landlords and sandwich shops more than anything.

Very similar number of deaths yesterday as on the infamous May party day.

Infections fell by 20% last week.
Covid patients on ventilators yesterday at lowest level since last July.
UK Health Security Agency say infections have come down quite substantially since December and that we've reached case numbers of less than 20,000 in hospitals across the UK, which is less than half of the peak seen last December and January.

Many medical experts saying that we may, at last have turned a corner.

Of course, it could all just be a diversion by the government.

I choose to believe that things are definitely on the up (at least for now).

Infections will have come down hopefully because less people are becoming infected bit also (in my opinion) there are less people testing. The other stats all seem positive though

Still got so many deaths, but they will come down as the infection rate decreases.

I think we are through the worse now...there will be a few more waves, but if covid behaves like a good virus should, they should not be as bad as alpha or omricon.

But so many excess deaths both here and World wide. I hope we have all learnt some thing from this

What, like not messing about with a virus in a lab in China? That sort of thing?

We won’t. To build a health system capable of coping with the massive surges in capacity that these types of pandemics demand - and despite the scary numbers of deaths this has actually been a mild pandemic compared to say the Black Death - would cost more than any society can afford or any politician would be prepared to sell. So we just need to educate everyone that this could happen again and it could be much worse, but it’s a risk we have to live with. A good debate about how we respond in future would be good, but that’s a hard sell for a politician too, because it inevitably would involve exactly what people have been arguing about for months lives v the economy. And politicians only like to tell us things they think we will like.

If that is the case Col, I then fear they/ we have all already learnt too much.

You can incapacitate the world with a simple "cold" virus....

I think the World knows this bloody thing started in a lab in China. There needs to be a proper World inquiery and find out the truth. Although we know what will happen... Nothing.

If conclusively proven that it was that lab in Wuhan what would be the expected outcome. Egg on a few faces but little interest to retaliate economically because of their price structure for exports. As uusal, £ and $ rules

I’m getting fed up of being pinged to fill in my movements for “Track and Trace”
Yes I know I’ve been in close contact with 3 individuals who are COVID positive because I ****ING INFECTED THEM !!!
They have all the details of my movements as, like the good citizen I am, spent 30 mins filling in umpteen pages of movements and contacts when I originally got confirmed.
Is it any wonder people can’t be arsed.

Heres a thought, with the stupid, lying idiot saying isolation may even be scrapped, surely its time to reverse the mandate of all nhs staff to have had the jab. We can ill afford to lose anymore staff as it is.

Nah it comes through automatically after a positive PCR test and sends you a link to give T&T details of where you’ve been, who you’ve contacted etc…….don’t mind filling it in once but surely they can connect the dots and stop keep asking.
