I'm in the happy position that if he signs for us I'll be very pleased but if he doesn't I'll have absolutely no problem with it. Definitely want him to join us but we won't be banking on it.
Same position as you mate, if he signs I will be over the moon and if he doesn’t I will just hang myself
Yeah, iirc the soon to be defunct BBC (courtesy of save Bonko's job) had a sports 606 but couldn't fund it, then someone created not606
One thing I wanna put on record. I’ll be ower the moon of we sign Defoe, but if we don’t, I won’t be remotely offended. We gotta remember this was never on the cards it was a left field punt.
rancid posters = rancid posts = a plethora of responses = more ad. traffic = more ad. revenue. I can see why Roger would prefer to keep them. It’s basically the Talksport model specifically for SAFC.
According to my Oxford supporting mate, Defoe had talks with Oxford in London yesterday and in Oxford today, and is flying back to Scotland this evening to make his decision over the weekend. No idea how true. But would suggest he at least liked what Oxford had to say enough to go to their training ground.
If he's looking to get into media work as well as continue playing until the end of the season it would make sense that he'd want to be based nearer London say.
I obviously don't know Jermain Defoe - but I'd be surprised if his decision was coming down to anything more than short term playing time and long term coaching opportunities. Doubt money comes into it - especially choosing between us and Oxford for example. Location might, but he's shown he's willing to move up to Sunderland, and to Glasgow. I would like a nice house in the Chilterns mind. Guess it may also come down to his personal circumstances. If he has a wife / girlfriend and kids that are school age, they might see somewhere like Oxford being somewhere they're wanting to settle down for longer (if she's southern). This isn't me ****ting on the north - I'd love to bring my kids up in the north east
Glaswegian fiancée, no kids. It’ll be a footballing decision ultimately and I think he’s too professional to let emotions sway him. In fact I suspect his emotional attachment to us is potentially a negative.
Still no word on Robert’s which is probably a bigger worry than Defoe. Don’t get me wrong I would like Defoe here but Robert’s could end up being more important and give more longevity.
