Well we were 2-1 up so technically didn’t necessarily need it to win. Given how palace played they’d have prob gone and missed 3 more guilt edge chances at 2-1 tbh. They should have scored 4 or 5 goals easily so only for themselves to blame.

It’s not an international break. It’s only Alison Fabinho and firmino. No European games.

Another successful aspect of this afternoon is I managed to walk up the stairs with a glass of wine without spilling a drop, practice makes perfect!

You could also argue that we shouldn't have had our second or third goals...

Meh nothing wrong with second goal. Ball went about a foot over firminos head.

Well I. Period when everyone said we’d struggle without Salah and mane.

    Through in fa cup 4-1
    Through in league cup 2-0
6/6 points in league. 6 goals scored and 1 conceded.

Closed the lead at top of table by 2 points.

    Oversll a successful January.

Yeah if we can get the 3 back without injury and get them a week or even 2 off (fa cup) it really couldn't go better.

Hopefully salah goes out at last 16 as honestly Egypt are totally outclassed here and he gets home for a rest.

Mane I think could get to final so really can but say go for it. We will have jota and firmino up top with salah to rest the lad.

well in the rules their goal is legit but to me it was , probably , offside as i hate the fact you can be offside then score seconds later .

What annoyed me was them praising the world class pass. The pass was actually to the guy offside and it was a **** one that went too far away from him and just got lucky was a guy running from behind <doh>

In fairness to us all; its clear that firminos position draws the left full tight and he is off and tries to head it. The var apparently said he wasn't interfering with keeper or player so for me that's classic hasn't a clue about football type decision.

The pen is outrageous but in the end its been presented to the ref and the ref has called it on the replay so what can palace do? The ref can say no there.

Imo yes there's a small case that their keeper made contact but jota tapped it away didn't go for ball and it was going out for goal kick. He's gone towards the keeper so that for he is actually taking contact and really if it were given live and not over turned I'd be shocked never.mind being waved off then reviewed to give.

Palace as you.lads said ****ed it numerous times and should have won.

Robbo? It was a hoof. He had a better pass on the over lap on the left but ignored it and just pumped one in.

Wild game, didn't feel in control at all, extremely lucky with the pen. Killed the game.

Points are all that matters right now so all good

No, the palace goal. The palace player tried to play it to the first forward who was offside but managed to miss him and got lucky that the second guy ran into it without defence realising he was there. Turned into a brilliant pass but no way he picked out the guy that was 5 yards behind our defence when the ball was played.

Should have been 4-0 up by half an hour - hanging on for grim life till the end.

Our second was iffy, depending on your interpretation of affecting play in going for the ball (Bobby). The pen though: nowhere in the rules does it say it's not a foul if the player isn't going to reach the ball. That said - astonished that was overturned, as it's supposed to be a clear and obvious error. Are they saying the ref never saw the goalie clatter into Jota?

But thank **** January is over. Still in three cups and dropped only 2 points in the league: that's as good as it normally gets for us in this cursed month. Don't like this high line against quick teams though: firstly, Virgil is not as quick and mobile as he was there years ago, even before the injury, and secondly, Trent is not now, nor ever has been quick at getting back, and he's not getting any quicker. And if teams can isolate him at the back post for crosses (as Brentford did, for one) he's clueless. Add to that Fab and hendo, for all their many interceptions, promptly gave the ball away as quick as they won it......

Anyway, best keeper in the world for 1 on 1s, and best understudy in the prem in Kelleher. I think we'll need them very much before the end of the season.

Also worth remembering that at 2-0, Palace had nothing to lose. Find in a lot of games same thing happens, other team suddenly start attacking and especially when your away from home, crowd get going and becomes a tough game.

Palace away alway horrible but vieira has them playing decent stuff and they have some very good attacking players.
