And good luck to him in managing one of them. The fact is we're not a League 1 team and nor do we want to be.
Impossible not to rip it up. The current players aren’t gonna settle for £3-4K a week contracts any more and some of them probably aren’t worth much more. This ties in with my post on one of the other McCann out conversations in a thread somewhere praising the old regimes budget squad building, we won’t struggle to be rid of players we don’t want. But imagine Tom Eaves on a 10k a week contract with 2 years left to run… I would expect to see a majority of them moving on over the next few months.
But we were last season and he got us out of that league as Champions, which is nothing to be disgraced.
Some, maybe myself included, saw that as getting us out of the hole he'd put us in. Anyway, no ill will and as I say, good luck to him.
McCann's home record in the Championship in particular sticks out to me, I think that's always been the biggest problem. I make it P36 W11 D6 L19. The atmosphere in the ground and around the club won't have helped, but it really is a bad look.
Was mentioned in the flurry of tweet last night that the 1st team squad were not in today, not due back till tomorrow.
So, after all the flurry, nobody yet seems to know whether GMcC has left the building - 24 hours of speculation but absolutely nothing concrete.
