how do you know we didn’t enquire for him? I recall his so called super agent saying that he needed to be guaranteed a staring spot…when we had possibly the best front 3 in Europe at the time. I don’t disagree that we do things on the cheap but the reality is that none of us know what happens behind the scenes or what we are prepared to spend on whom. Not one single one of us.

Look enquire is a wide term isn't it?

I am sure we've a long history on all these players as we scout them but the difference between an enquiry to an agent as a feller and a bid to the club is massive.

for me backing off cos dortmund are in is something that's even more pussy than not bidding at all. It says we are weak kneed and fear rejection.

At least i can cling to we are following klopp's "strategy" when we keep retaining our first team squad (and retaining and retaining even when they are past it or crap)

If that's the plan let's get Inaki Williams as well. We were linked a few times before.

    Apparently Nico is Inaki's brother.

Inaki williams must be past 30 now surely? maybe he's like ian wright and its his son or grandson.

Did you hear wright on the FA cup round about a grandson or great grandson debut or something <laugh>

D’Margio Wright-Phillips is apparently the gransson. Shuan wright phillips was the son

I don’t agree. If we keep bidding for players who have told us they won’t come, unless their terms are met, what is the point? It would only be perceived negatively by many. I prefer that the message is ‘come to Liverpool and play with best but fight for your place’. I just don’t like our budget constraints but even then, we haven’t done too badly, have we? But like I said; It’s all speculation on our part - fun….but as far removed from reality as you can get. We don’t know what happens really, do we?

No, we've got our own way of doing things and now and again some completely under the radar signing occurs.

Whether the player will actually fit in with the group and has the right attitude is more important to Klopp than anything. Plus Haaland has that **** Railo as agent which we just can't be doing with.

If you were given a wage say, I dunno what haaland and bellingham are on now but i could guess its not massive then the other part is what is the agents fee. We know we pay massive agents fees as we don't hide them away in other companies. So why buy minamino from the same club for resale value of maybe 10mil more if lucky when you can pay 20mil or even 30mil and focre dortmunds hand?

What we do know is chelsea don't take no for an answer well and shovel wages at players. There was debate on who chelsea wanted for 100 mil with lukaku being no 3 behind others but chelsea fans quite early on were saying it was lukaku. We just don't seem to ask the question.

IMO in general its well known when physical scouts turn up and a lot of these stories are purely down to extensive scouting going on but we are never in for any of them.

But anyway, the important thing is there are SOME who continually harp on as pundits saying we've not won enough. so while we've done alright for ourselves and have a full squad there's quite a few little issues coming that are building up. I think we can agree on that?

    there is that.

We paid 45mil(eventually) for Jota and 90k a week. We chose to not bid 20mil for haaland and to beat the 135k per week he is on.

We refused to pay 25mil for bellingham and 50k per week. he was 17. We will pay an eventual 4.3mil for elliott at 15k a week.

Whether you want to call that the strategy i don't know but I'd rather believe its Klopp's calls than we are too pussy to get involved in a war with dortmund.

However I'll firmly say this. Jude bellingham will never play for LFC. he is already in the delle alli category. we are not in for alli (neither is anyone much by the look of it) and if bellingham falls away like alli then we won't want him.

Same goes for any of the other big money names. The key phrase you used IMO was under the radar. some unfashionable name will arrive and explode into stardom (hopefully)

    1) most is speculation on our part (which makes life interesting in here tbh)
    2) yea, agree that there are quite a few little (not major(yet)) issues in the squad. And these will need to be addressed. <ok>
    3) My biggest fear of all though, is Klopp leaving. I would move heaven and earth to keep him, even if it means we spend the next decade scratching around in the bargain basement.

Gini being linked to arsenal now.

Inagine being a key player for us in a title and CL winning team. Going to PSG for the cash, barely playing and then ending up at mid table arsenal to play alongside xhaka.
