    I can't believe I was gutted about this competition (and our exit) last night, but that's where we are. We had a shot at going to Wembley and picking up a minor trophy, and were deservedly beaten by a team 16th in league 2. Our defending was horrible to watch at times last night, the passing was wayward all over the pitch, and really, there wasn't anyone you could pick out as especially to blame (Lee is getting stick elsewhere) as the whole side were horrible to watch.
    Dobson was a huge loss in the middle which left the defence exposed over and over again. Lee to be frank simply isn't a solution to anything right now. Leko, who I don't see as quite the carthorse he gets portrayed elsewhere looked absolutely pathetic, and the number of times our attacks faltered because the ball got trapped under a playes feet as he tried to blunder past two Hartlepool players was laughable. And no one ever wants to take a chance. A lot of our backwards play was caused by a player getting the ball, seeing someone free, taking a couple more touches while he and the nearest pass were both closed down, and being forced to pass back into our half where the whole sorry show would be repeated. And while Watson may be a great coach in the making, that doesn't justify his play last night, and you have to ask how many coaches a mid table league 1 club can maintain.

    An excellent summary if I may say so.

    Until we rid ourselves of anyone we bought during the Roland, His Excellency or ESI ownerships we are knackered. Although to be fair to Roland he did allow managers to buy or loan some really good players, certainly better than anything TS has so far brought in. Unfortunately those players are now long gone.

    Until TS starts to authorise that level of player again then my verdict on him is very much still out. Where are the BWP’s, Yann’s, Bielik’s, Cullen’s, Taylor’s, Gallagher’s, Bauer’s, Coquelin’s, Morrison’s and Jackson’s. We simply don’t have anyone of that level any more.

    Yet while Jacko was on probation the team were very good, and we were saying it was Adkins's fault they'd been poor. Fans of other teams including Rotherham were saying we were the best team they'd played. We were looking at the playoffs as an achievable goal. Now we're looking down at the relegation spots with trepidation. Something badly wrong with the character of the team. Last night was shocking, really dreadful. Maybe Jacko has talked too much about the fans; we just don't seem to be able to play away from home.

    It’s strange isn’t it. How can we go from being absolutely crap, to being able to beat any team in the league and then back to absolute crap again so quickly.

    The only explanation I can put forward is that during Jacko’s caretaker period, the players simply “wanted it” more than other teams and now they’ve just gone back to their natural ability level.

    That’s not very scientific or logical I know, but what else can it be ?

    I actually feel sorry for Elliot Lee. He looked great when he arrived, was obviously enjoying himself, and was aheadache for the opposition. How did he arrive where he is now? I'll skip the penalty - it happens to players good and bad. But he seems to be the master of the cul de sac. He beats his opponent twice, does a step over and voila - the ball goes behind for a goal kick. maybe the players aren't helping him by not making themselves available, or maybe his confidence is shot. But he has slid horribly. Not the only one by any means. Leko can't take the ball with him, Jayesimi can't deliver and Blackett Taylor is similar.
    I would guess jacko needs to try a new system, as 352 is a flop right now.

    Maybe having a Dad who is a legend at Charlton is a burden?;
    Jacko is unlikely to change, he believes in his system but then so did Adkins, and Bowyer loved a diamond.
