Places like care homes and hospitals obviously need more stringent entry requirements. But apart from wearing a face mask in shops, I don't see the need for any other measures. I personally would have kept face masks as a legal requirement. But nothing else.

Being against vaccine mandates and covid passports doesn’t make someone against all vaccines.

Vaccines like any medical procedure should be treated on an individual risk/reward basis, after a lot of clinical testing.

Would I accept a vaccine mandate for a disease which killed 50% of the population? Maybe. But I’d still be hesitant about it as I know that once governments take freedoms, they don’t return them.

Do I accept authoritarian measures for covid, which quite simply will barely affect me or anyone else below 50? Absolutely not.

I am aware that older or more vulnerable people will feel more sensitive to this conversation. But they have to be made aware that their fears can be used against them.

Fundamental freedoms are incredibly important and should only be given up if absolutely necessary. IMO anyone that disagrees with this hasn’t studied enough history. I am not willing to make permanent law changes for a temporary disease.

I'll continue to wear face masks on public transport and in shops...to be safer (not necessarily safe) and considerate....no biggie.

if you're not vaccinated and refuse to use a corona pass you'll have to accept the restrictions that brings.

Do you think the corona vaccines haven't been sufficiently tested given the billions of doses administered and the clinical trials carried out? You may find this interesting possibly reassuring. https://covid19.trackvaccines.org/vaccines/

I'm 72 I don't feel in the least my fears have been used against me perhaps you'd care to explain, please. I'd be fearful of going to a bar or venue where no check is carried out given the lack of responsibility shown by many.

So you think corona pass regulations will be a permanent requirement by law where they a currently imposed? I'd like to know what historical studies give credence to this opinion?

I don’t mask wearing as losing my freedom, which is only going to be a temporary issue, but me doing my bit to help protect the more vulnerable people in the country.
I hope you have been hammering your MP over the way the government are pushing through laws that stop protesting, require people to produce ID to vote and for the ongoing changes to the NHS, that will further facilitate privatisation, because these are genuine losses of freedom.

I wear a mask at work and on the bus and in shops. As long as I can make someone vulnerable feel safer I'm happy. I'm 40 in may and had COVID, double jabbed and boostered. I don't agree with covid passports one bit as you can still catch covid jabbed or not. It makes no sense to me

It’s been a standard tactic of the state for decades.

Create huge amount of fear > fear makes people clamour for new laws > pass laws & sneak through extra laws.

I am vaccinated myself. I am old enough that the risk of taking a relatively untested vaccine makes sense to protect me. But the totalitarian mandates and covid passport discussion is totally unacceptable. Especially for young people. I am totally against coercion of medical procedures.

And yeah, I think the covid passports could eventually down the path to social credit and government tracking for other things.

I don't see it like that - maybe I am giving the state the benefit of the doubt, but I see it for what it is - to help us come out of this pandemic with as many people as we can, without marginalising people that through no fault of their own are vulnerable to the virus.

I don't see it as fear, but the state have to tell us it is bad otherwise left to their own devices people would just carry on as if nothing is happening. The general public (not aimed at you Osvaldorama) are by and large selfish.

People keep saying things like I wear a mask to help others feel safe etc. Do the masks work because if so, then why do people care about other people, you do what you need to do to feel safe, take the vaccine, keep away from people all you like but surely mandating these kind of things is just plain wrong?

What if the government mandated not wearing masks anymore( I dunno maybe because of facial recognition needs). Would you be happy with that? I suspect not, it should be an individual's choice, just as it is your choice what goes inside your body, from vaccines to food.

I would certainly carry on feeling uneasy if they stopped you from wearing masks, because I am Pro choice.

You wear a mask to protect other people, which you really should know by now, and studies have shown that masks are probably the most effective protective measure, given that most people are by now vaccinated. If others don’t wear masks near me, I feel vulnerable, and I am outspoken enough to tell them so. Why not just have a rule that masks are mandatory, so that everyone knows?

Who here wears a face mask properly? You should wear a fresh clean mask every time, avoid touching mask, wash hands thouroghly before removing and before putting one on, make sure it is well fitted covering both your nose and mouth.

So basically when you eat, you would need to wash hands before taking it off, then wash hands before putting a fresh one on, so surely that is impossible and therefore unless you never eat/ drink while out and about, you are doing it wrong.

And on the subject of food, how can it be that you just take the mask off to eat? I went to the mayflower to watch the panto, you were asked to wear a mask at all times unless exempt apart from when eating your snacks and drinks, even though we were all shoulder to shoulder with complete strangers!

If you want to wear the mask and you are doing what you want to make yourself feel comfortable, then that is all that matters.

Some people have a 5 second rule for dropped food, others would not eat anything that has hit the ground, that is the person's choice.

I just don’t see why people should be forced to do things to make others less scared.

We never wore masks for flu, and covid has evolved to the point where it’s similar to the flu in terms of danger.

Feels like freedoms are being eroded away little by little, and I hate it. Sorry to all if that’s controversial, but it’s how I feel. I want to go back to normal ASAP.

A heartbreaking interview with a man who lost both parents and a sister to Covid.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t think we will ever be totally free of Covid, particularly while significant numbers of people do little to prevent it spreading, which in turn leads to the possibility of further mutations.

The old normal isn't coming back "forced to do things to make others less scared." Who is that aimed at? So what are your fundamental freedoms that have been eroded?

He didn't say free of Covid. He said back to normal. At some point isolation will be binned off and face masks will be a thing of the past.
