“No matter what I do, you ****s will vote for me because you’ve been conned into thinking you’ll get lower taxes and better public services as a result while you like it that we’ll **** the poor right up the arse” would be the more accurate version.

Can someone explain to me why JRM is saying there would be a general election if Johnson went. I presumed they would just replace the lying **** with whoever the Tory faithful decide upon.

It’s a threat to Tory backbenchers - you can’t get rid of Johnson without risking losing your seat in an election. Pretty crude stuff, but these people aren’t that sharp, obviously. It’s not even true, the Tory party would replace Johnson and whoever took over would decide if they wanted an election. Probably not if they got a lot of support from MPs and of course they have a massive majority still. It’s bollocks. Rees Mogg certainly won’t be involved, he’s been a liability in government and a new PM would undoubtedly boot him out.

Now each Tory MP has to calculate his/her chances of surviving if Johnson wobbles on the the next election. If a confidence vote is triggered he needs 180 to stay in post, but a tiny majority would leave him sunk, and only a complete egotist with a tenuous grip on reality would continue without a strong endorsement………oh, hang on…..

I’ve heard that it could be a struggle to get the sufficient number writing letters of no confidence, but if enough do write in they will vote him out quickly as they only have one chance a year and the next embarrassing **** up is always just round the corner…...about the reverse situation of Theresa May.

****ing brilliant way to run a country, isn’t it?

Don’t get defensive Bob. You have said on many occasions that you didn’t vote and today you said you voted for Labour and limps. it’s not me flip flopping telling porkies.
anyway I’m more interested in why Bobby doesn’t vote tbh.

when i was younger, i didn't really care about politics. Now i've been older a combination of laziness and work and not really anyone i have really wanted to vote for.

Politicians are much of a muchness.

The last few elections when i have gotten into politics, I didn't really care if corbyn or may/johnson got in (the election before that i was still registered in my hometown but was actually living in london). Past 5/6 years i've definitely got more left wing in some of my policies (i'd kill landlords off for starters, put some sort of yearly tax on anyone with more than 3 properties) but if a left wing government get in i'd be much worse off as i'm probably sit in the top 5%.

I am tempted to break my non-voting laziness though if boris is still in charge. I'm sorry to say i don't really like politicians much as i don't think any if many are in it for themselves and i know a lot of politicians lie but i'm not seeing much meritocracy and it's sort of unnerving how 1984 like this country has become (at least from a fake statistics point of view).

oh also i forgot to add, theres always that, my vote doesn't really count, it's a single vote in a FPTP system and due to my laziness, it's made it an easy reason/excuse

    Fab honest post. :emoticon-0148-yes:
I was listening to a former MP the other day who said that they went into politics to change things but once in found it difficult to do anything. It’s like a machine and many MPs get little done.
My old MP mate said you get a certain amount of money and everyone wants it and there is never enough to go around.

yea i can totally get that. It's a machine by itself and i imagine even if you had the best intentions (there are also plenty of career politicians), you just get chewed up and spat out if you don't play the game. Once you've played it, you leave a trail of black marks which inevitably rivals can exploit or you change yourself.
