It was madness. Yes, he saw it clearly and didn’t give it. I thought it was pretty plain at full speed that Jota was responsible for the coming together, initiating contact (ironically, the sort of thing Palarse’s Zaha was very good at). In fact, it has to be simulation, doesn’t it? Blatant cheating, in other words. How is that sort of cheating different from a defender saving with his hands for a red card, or bringing down a last man? Should be red, imho. Pawson (another blockhead) was VAR. So two major questions for Riley to answer: Why did Pawson call Friend to the screen? Why did Friend change his mind?
Blackburn have just pushed Bournemouth down the playoffs Couldn't happen two years on the trot, could it?
Stoke will feel they got a point despite 2 key decisions going against them and a deflected goal from Huddersfield. Not sure how the ref didn't send the Huddersfield player off who then went and scored.
Because the ref was Gavin Ward, who has a long history of controversial and incorrect decisions. He should also have awarded a clear penalty to Stoke. The last Watford game which he refereed was at Luton. I remember reading one comment by an ex-referee (but I forget which one) who was amazed that Gavin Ward is still allowed to referee. Do you remember his dreadful performance in the game between Swansea and Middlesborough in March 2021? Afterwards Neil Warnock said: "He (Gavin Ward) thought it was a free-kick to them (and so disallowed Marc Bola's goal). He hadn't see (Yannick) Bolasie won the ball. It's either a penalty or a goal. He's blown the whistle before Bola's shot hit the goal and gave a defensive free-kick. "I'm a little bit bewildered about the penalty. He pointed for a corner kick but he assures me that when he thought about it he thought George (Saville) didn't get any of the ball and he thought it was a penalty. I asked 'Why did you point to the corner flag? Were you guessing?'. That's what he said." More recently - in December 2021 - he upset Tony Mowbray, even though Blackburn won the game against Preston: https://www.lancs.live/sport/footba...kburn-rovers-mowbray-passionate-rant-22368806
Sadly the Fulham fan who collapsed at their game has died . Puts things into perspective. https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2022/january/29/rip-paul-parish/
Some rather unsavoury allegations made about Mason Greenwood - and there are videos about . If true will be in big bother.
Career ending if proven? The one video I've seen was a bit brutal - blood pouring from her mouth down over her chest.
What I've seen of it is pretty shocking. With these allegations, the girls at the England team hotel, his fractured relationship with certain team members at United, he certainly has issues to deal with.
Not a great time for football at the moment what with the deaths at AFCON, the Derby County saga, the sad demise of the Fulham supporter, the Greenwood allegations and the racist abuse of Akinfenwe yesterday by franchise fans which held the game up...
And the knuckle-dragging Rangers fans in Dingwall yesterday who racially abused Ross County winger Charles-Cook. I guess they were too scared of Hungbo to do the same to him. I simply don't understand the mentality of those who do it. Fair play to the players on the receiving end for keeping their cool though - I wouldn't blame them if they 'did a Cantona' and drop kicked a few of the morons.
Derby might be in real trouble on and off the pitch but they don't give in. Another late comeback from 2 goals down.
That is probably his career at England, Premier League and Championship level finished, he might be able to put in a couple of years in the lower divisions but what a waste of talent What goes on in the heads of these players, too much fame and money far too soon
Everton have appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract to replace the sacked Rafael Benitez.
I think this is good news for us. Given the choice of Hodgson/Lewington or Lampard/Ferguson(?), I think both clubs would have gone for the former option.
