GM should be very worried if offered the Sunderland job . They sack managers after a 6-0 loss where he is used to being safe after an 8-0 loss
The rot at Sunderland started under his tenure, he steered the ship into the path of the waterfall and set them on a downward trajectory.
Clearly Bruces' fault they are **** ! They may not like him but they had had another 6 seasons in Prem post his departure. The average manager lifespan is c2years . It'd be interesting to see how McCann could do there if he did get the job. Lots seem to think he'd automatically get them up because he got us up, but it looks like a very different job to me. Massive expectation and notoriously expectant home crowd, whereas he got us up in a season of no fans and his home record for City in front of fans was really, really bad; we had an incredible amount of home defeats in the season and a half he had with crowds. Maybe with a decent budget he won't have such issues there but if they do lose a few home games early on like he did with us then it could get ugly.
I agree with that, and I'd add that he's on a hiding to nothing even if he does get them up, as anything less than bidding for the Prem the following season would be a failure. I wouldn't see it as a good long term career move if I was Grant.
"Long term career" in league football....?? I think it's more a case of working or not working. Managers aren't that choosy, a club like Sun'lan is perfect for GM... It'll be a decent contract £100-200k pa and if he's sacked he gets a wedge....
If Sunderland are smart (eh) bring in Grant, ask him what he needs to replicate the success he had with us, and give him the summer to set that up. Assuming he can't get them up this season of course, which he'd get a free crack at in the play offs at worst.
City dodged a bullet with Chris Coleman. He'd have become our manager after Bruce walked out if the the Welsh FA would have released him. He wanted to combine both jobs but the computer said no.
In your opinion maybe. In my opinion, I think your talking bollocks. 16 managers after Bruce, but it's still Bruce's fault lol. Whatever you're smoking I'd give it up.
He's 41, many managers can go a lot longer. I've no doubt Grant will find another Club, but in my opinion he's liable to find getting a top one more difficult if he takes on Sunderland, unless he achieves the fans unrealistic dreams.
Not sure promotion to the Championship should be deemed unrealistic for Sunderland. They've drastically underperformed as a club for years.
