https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60238539 Sadly it reminds me of a boxer past his prime who doesn't need the money but keeps going because... He always looks 'ill' by the end of his latest tenure and needs to put his feet up, enjoy life and do a bit of punditry if he needs his fix
That's the end of West Brom's promotion run then. Yes he's our most successful Manager, but he was given significant financial backing to assemble a squad of players that should have been good enough to avoid relegation in 2014/15 season. One could also argue that the squad he retained following relegation should have been good enough to be promoted automatically rather than via the playoffs.
Both Sheffield clubs, Newcastle and Sunderland, Villa and Brum and now West Brom. Principles and loyalty are foreign words to Bruce. Decent coach for us but ****ing hell…
He had the strongest squad in the division at Villa and finished 13th and 4th and failed to get promoted as well.
I guess you can give Bruce credit for halting what seemed like a Sunderland-like trajectory to League 1 that Villa was on under Di Matteo. But he finished 13th in his first season, lost the play-off final in his second season with the best squad in the division and in his third season at Villa, they were 12th with the best squad in the division when they fired him.
He’s got a proved track record of getting clubs promoted out of the championship, so I can see why they made the appointment. Good luck to him. Always good to see him back at the mkm. then we can chant we’ve got arveladze and thrash them 3-0
Apart from Newcastle who he supports, why should he be bothered what team it is that he manages. It's just a wage to him.
You obviously don't like Bruce but I'm not sure why you are so bothered about him managing WBA. If you think he's ****, I would have thought you'd be happy him going there seen as we still have to play them again.
I used to like him. Now I just think he’s an average manager and a bit of a mercenary. I’m neither happy nor unhappy he’s going to West Brom.
Exactly, he’s a mercenary. I’m not quite sure why some on here thinks the sun shines out of his arse when he probably regards his time with us as just picking up a wage. He was a decent coach for us and made some brilliant signings but I don’t really have much time for the guy these days.
Mercenary? Apart from Sheff Weds when has he (recently i.e. 10 years or so) left a club to take on a job for more money?
Every job he’s taken in the last 10 years has been when he’s been unemployed so I don’t see your point. He goes to clubs, even if they’re fierce rivals of clubs he’s previously managed, inevitably gets fired after a string of **** results, gets a nice big payout then moves onto the next club to do the same. Rinse and repeat.
That's literally my point. How on Earth can he be called a mercenary? What you're describing is no different to almost any other manager on Earth who is out of work and gets offered a job.
How many other managers have managed fierce rivals in three different cities/regions in England? The fact he’ll accept any job so long as they pay him enough is why he’s a mercenary.
