Now as unpopular as this maybe, but how many defensive howlers have cost us games this season, Greaves McLoughlin and Jones have plenty of potential but all 3 played together just shows how much more they need to improve. We need at least one experienced head in there, to bring them on if he insists on playing 3 central defenders. Our full backs ? Flemming looks half decent going forward but his defensive frailties and lack of physicality is there for all to see, on the right we have Coyle or a none existent Longman. Until Emmanual comes back at least. If we are to consider ourselves as contenders, the team imho needs strengthening from front to back .. with creativity and a bit of experience mixed in, and a striker that can a totally score a few.
I'd definitely take it next season ( as everyone would ) but im just being more realistic and hope most other fans are as well. The last thing we need is everything thinking that it has to happen next season and if it doesn't it means failure. For me top half finish next season should be the aim
They have cost us this season I agree and that's down to lack of experience back there. But I think we have tightened up at the back since shota came in, now is that due to him and his staff or just the gained experience of the back 3 this season and them learning or even Jones coming back in and helping....
I agree , it might take years to ever get promoted again - would just be nice to be in those type of conversations again instead of hoping somebody gets a points reduction to keep us up
But we really haven't have we, we're still making schoolboy errors, all 3 have been guilty of such in the last month or so. Hence why I say get some experienced head next to them, someone with a voice who will bring them on, like Turner was by Brown. And tbh McCann's team looked as solid when he played the same formation. I personally ha ent seen much of an improvement at all since Shota has bee here, despite how desperate I am to see it.
Cheers for this a certain person told me I was talking Sh*** for saying Fleming lacked physicality and had defensive frailties, it’s plain to see - but he has great feet and some pace.
We do have to be careful this year and after a 2 poor performances there becomes a temptation to want rid of most the out of contract players and to start fresh next season. If that were to happen we'd be looking at having to replace the following Bernard Elder Huddlestone Smallwood Docherty Walsh Cannon Moncur Williams Wilks Eaves Forss That's an awful lot of players to lose, replace and then hit the ground running next season. Especially if all/most of the new recruits come from abroad. If be well happy with a top 10 finish, that would be real progress but we do have to be careful
So would I, I just think next year we'll likely play with a back 4 and he'll find it difficult to get gametime
Wasn’t Chillo part of the coaching set up during those initial four games? Was it after he left or was stepped down that the results turned to complete ****e? RIP Chillo
You've asked that a few times and I can only say what others have said: probably because we only had four days to do our business. Targets went elsewhere and all the rest of it. It could be because our new ownership are incompetent but there isn't much of a body of evidence to support that theory so let's wait and see how they do with a proper window.
Not sure, mate. Long time ago. Always recall the Fail giving it heaps about a new regime then it went pear shaped, big time, pretty quickly.Think we got relegated that year in March, but again me memory is on the wane
Don’t think Chillo returned to England until Ken Houghton took over, a few months after Collins was recruited.
Don't forget Bernard at the back, another young buck learning on the job. Zero experience and guidance at the back
