Also 1016 between the English Edmund Ironside (JWP) and Danish Canute (CE), Ironsides won the battle but lost the war. Canute ended up in Southampton at some point trying to turn back the tide, as retold in a later song by Cher

I went to Luton with a mate who was a Luton fan in the 80s to see them play the Skates. The big violent Geordie Skate No 9 (Mick someone?) got sent off for elbowing someone in the face, not subtley, everyone saw it, and Luton won

It was when they didn’t allow away fans, but they had to for this as it was FA Cup, so they put the Skates inside a cage and they all frothed and raged and rattled the bars like rabid wild dogs

    Happy Days <laugh>

Sad fact/point of pedantry: Canute was, apparently, trying to show his courtiers/hangers-on that he was NOT divine, by showing them that he had no control over the sea, whatever his courtiers might like to think.

Buzzing for this. Shame it looks like the sun won't be out and I'm driving.

Think we'll win today to get rid of those last relegation worries that some bizarrely have.

Popped into town for a haircut before catching my train. The last time I had a haircut en route to a game was 9th Feb. Spurs 2-3 Saints. We're going to win today.

Just been reading comments from Ralph, regarding Adarma, in which he says that it isn’t just about what a striker does up front but also how they work defensively.
He says (I am paraphrasing) that Dave Watson isn’t too pleased if he selects shorter strikers, as they aren’t as effective when defending set pieces, which, IMO, shouldn’t be the most important reason for choosing the front players. TBH we are absolutely useless at defending set pieces, so using that (if he is) as a reason for not picking Adarma is a bit lame.
It has been claimed that, after an extensive warm up during the Palace game, Adarma disappeared down the tunnel when Ralph sent Lucy on as the third sub, so an indication perhaps that Adarma is getting pissed off.
Ralph also mentioned that Brentford have a lot of height, so that might be a precursor for Adarma not being given a chance, or a bluff. Never can tell with Ralph.

All of which begs the question of why sign him in the first place if he/coaching staff don’t like short strikers. It’s not exactly something you can change.

The defensive side of the game (if he means closing down opposing defenders and tracking back rather than defensive headers from corners) can be taught but height can’t.

Adams is tiny as well but he plays like a taller player with his hold up play etc

After googling Adams is 5’9 and Armstrong is 5’8, so hardly a difference really.

Unless you’re the 5’9 one then you are miles taller I assume
