The Sorensen penalty decision looked ridiculous on my screen. What's worse, it will give Smith a reason not to play him for another ten games.
I have to eat a little humble pie. Placheta has looked as good as anyone since he came on, although I accept that isn't saying much.
He's not going to have a choice, our midfield is that thin. Sorensen and PLM are the only fit central midfielders who will be at Norwich next season, and PLM is playing 10. A reset, and 90% of the squad replacing.... If Pukki and Hanley were the only players kept on and everyone else replaced, I'm honestly not sure I'd mind.
Well, it seems my plan to totally ignore the football and go fishing instead was a great call Though not expecting a win, I am not pleased with 0-4 loss at home
I guess the other side of the argument would be don't demoralise your own players, let the loan players take the hit. Normally you would want to bring young players into games that you are at least competing in.
A teenager getting his 1st Official Premier league ball in a clear plastic box would have been a highlight
I can see both sides of the coin, but without knowing more about the player I'm not sure whether it's a heads or tails answer. I think we just need to accept our lot, get to the end of the season and go again next season. I'm not sure Smith is going to learn anymore about the players in the last few games that he doesn't already know.
I can understand the frustration, but that would be a recipe for disaster given our impecunious self-funding status, we have to concentrate on incremental development. Going into the Championship, we have a core squad which can do well. GK: Krul, Gunn, McGovern RB: Aarons, Byram, Mumba CB: Hanley, Gibson, Omobamidele, Zimbo? LB: Giannoulis, McCallum DM: Sørensen CM: McLean, Lees-Melou WR: Dowell, Placheta, Rowe, Martin WL: Rashica, Tzolis, Springett, Hernandez S: Pukki, Sargent, Idah, Hugill? Players who are struggling in the PL could do well in the Championship. The key, as always, will be how our young players develop and next year will provide that chance. Springett looked ok in a game which was already lost and Rowe is definitely first team now. We need a new quality CB and a quality DM, but apart from that, we should be ok until January with what we have.
