Burnleys prices will plummet as the summer goes on and they have to find 80 million to pay a loan back this summer from the takeover. They'll be quoting huge sums at the moment hoping someone bites but as the weeks pass by it will turn in to a fire sale. I'd wait and see but I think 15 million is par. I reckon we could get him cheaper late summer if Burnley don't raise the funds. Taylor is a very underrated player. I get fans frustrations of him refusing to play and forcing a move but when you delve a bit deeper it has Cellino written all over it. Taylor had been promised an improved contract and he had won player of the year twice despite being one of the lowest earners at the club. Cellino ignored him for months despite his promise to make him one of the top earners. Cellino refused to negotiate keeping Taylor on ****e wages comparable to youth team salaries for as long as possible. Taylor agent threatened to pull the player to try and force negotiations but Cellino just tried to call his bluff. Just another episode in how **** our club was run for too many years. Taylor should never have refused to play but the club should have honoured their promise instead of just slamming the door on him.
It's not quite that straight forward when players have only 2 years left on their contracts. Last summer Leicester could easily have got £50M for Tielemans but now with only 12 months remaining his value has fallen significantly. That's the balancing act that all clubs have to deal with when new contracts remain unsigned. Both Kalvin & Raphinha have 2 years remaining and we're at exactly that point.
maybe but we are still in the driving seat and its our call to call the shots rather that let them go at cut costs.
Flip side of that is we paid 19 million for Rapha. Equates to 5 million a season for his services (minus wages of course). His goals and assists kept us up this season and earnt us another 150 million guaranteed. Does it matter if we make a profit on him at this point? At 25 million selling fee I'd rather we kept him for both seasons. Him and Deco know that refusing to play for two years massively reduces his potential income when he goes on a free, and a world Cup. There has to be middle ground. If he wants to go, that's fine, but he ain't going for peanuts to Barca just because he 'wants to'. He can run his contract down if he wants it that much. Meanwhile if he wants to continue playing for Brazil then he'll have to perform.
Slight difference this time though that sulkers will not be playing and in turn not getting selected for the World Cup. It may be simpler for both to stay and shine up to Xmas and win a place in the squads. We hold the cards right now so unless we get the money we want they stay
My view is he'd be an underwhelming signing. Charlie is an adequate left back and his role at Burnley was clearly defined in that he got forward and crossed the ball into the box for the big man. If he was the only left back available, then yes I'd take him, but would prefer us to sign better if possible
I meant Pope to replace Meslier, he is a better keeper and there’s no room for sentiment in football.
Think West Ham will sign Pope as Moyes isn't too bothered about a ball playing goalkeeper and as such they'll be a good fit for each other. Interesting that Pope can't get in the England team when he's clearly the best at both keeping the ball out of the net and commanding his penalty area.
It doesn’t look like we play out from the back anywhere near as much under JM though that could’ve been because of the precarious position we found ourselves in.
Agreed. Just think Pope will attract suitors higher up the food chain than we currently are and also that our priorities will be elswhere this summer. Even at a cut price of say £25M it's too rich for our blood until we've become way more established in the PL. Meslier will just have to do and it's not as though he's making loads of howlers, however the pressure did seem to get to him a little towards the end of the season which is obviously a concern
Just one more point about approaching Burnley players this summer. It might not be the main attraction but it certainly holds some weight to our offers. The fact that the clubs are pretty close geographically makes the process so much easier. The player might have married local, kids happy and settled at school, don't have or want to move house.
If we lose KP, interested to see what he does now we’ve stayed up as he’s said he always wanted to stay, I still think Winks would be a decent replacement depending on price.
If Phillips goes you can bet on Tyler Adams replacing him and if he stays it would be like Kalvin playing with Declan Rice. So assume we have a set 4 at the back and a set 2 in front, then Arronson and ? And then the front 2. Problems now are what do we do with Harrison and James as wingers in a 4-2-2-2 system doesn't work I would play Rodrigo would be ideal alongside Aaronson if hes still here
Tyler Adams is more injury prone than Forshaw. He can't get in the side at Salzburg when he is fit. I'm not sure on him. Rodrigo has been a shocking signing. Get rid. His sulking towards the end of Bielsa and when substituted under Marsch isn't needed in a young squad. I'm hoping he gets ****ed off back to Spain. Don't like the guy at all.
Theres also this young Croatian AM who would be alongside Aaronson if theres truth in it? But ghe question is how do we fit Harrison, James, Poveda and Summerville into a half wing situation? We really need to move away from spendi g big on wingers and conentrate on fast attacking AMs playing behind a front 2. We assume Greenwood is going to be an AM squad player and by the sounds of it so too is Lewis Bate. Wingers?
C Can you please publish your evidence/paperwork to back up your claims?. I am very interested to view it and understand what happened.
https://tbrfootball.com/massimo-cel...cost-leeds-united-with-charlie-taylor-wanted/ The stubbornness with Taylor, or Taylors agent, came from the Sam Byram contract shenanigans. Byram had the same agent. https://insidefutbol.com/2015/10/01...-leeds-united-supremo-massimo-cellino/245149/ He wouldn't give Byram an improved contract. Just wanted to extend it on the cheap. The agent ****ed him off. https://www.footballinsider247.com/this-key-leeds-player-will-not-be-at-the-club-next-summer-report/ Cellino wouldn't even talk to the agent and offered derogatory terms for the player of the year.
