I was going join in and put out a reasonable, but ambitious prediction. But then I'll risk getting mocked for being delusional. So for the time being I'll defer a prediction. However - Can I remind any 'anti-overly-positive' members on here that there's history of previous rival-unsettling Toon behaviour. When we went up in 1994, we finished THIRD TOP in our first season back in the Premiership. My point is that it's possible that next season we'll break up the smug cosy bunch, who will all cry like babies. We do need a steady goal scorer though - it could be Wilson.
Not getting carried away, 12th but toing and froing between 8th and 12th all season with no threat of relegation, that my friends is progress.
Depends there is no guarantee.... There's loads of clubs spending money and loads of good teams. I think newcastle are still 3 or 4 seriously good players off top 8.. Could happen though
I mean I'm not saying it's impossible, but I just have a feeling people have forgotten this is still newcastle united... I predict we'll have our trousers pulled down a few times before we get anywhere.
I'm not dismissing it either, can we continue were we left off, a couple more quality players and who knows but we'll be a comfortable midtable team this season.
9th. Good cup run would be a nice change more so than league position. Absolutely no relegation scrap, winning more games than we lose, a good cup run and an overall progression in league position would be a great season.
I'd say that's progress compared to the first half of last season but regression compared to the second half. If injuries hit hard though, especially with a select few players, then it could still be nerve wracking at times.
I doubt they'll continue that form in fact I guarantee it because it was top 4 form. These guys predicting top 6 or even 4 are only fooling themselves.. They're completely and utterly deluded and it's why nufc fans get the criticism of having unrealistic expectations... They do it then they lie and say the accusations are false.
We're signing like 21 year olds with potential for a reason like. In a few years they'll be boss, we can offer wages that others will really struggle to match. It's all according to plan. Think the majority of the teams in the league are meh, so like top half isn't that much of a stretch. But the top 6 are ****ing million miles away from the rest.
I've no evidence that our progress won't play out as such. And I'd be perfectly happy with that. But I do have a hunch that tells me that our owners won't be that patient, not with 10 years of slow build that is.
Exactly mate it'll happen year on year newcastle will keep planting seeds and development everything and everyone at the club, but top 6 barring a one of miracle season is a bridge too far next season.
Tbh they said 5 to 10 years to win the league, so they aren't aiming to mess around. It's year 1 but year 3 will be when it cracks up
