They would not let Thomas get down the road and he simply wouldnt have the legs for the climb (my opinion) if it comes down to the bunch contesting the final 5k. JV will be all over any dangerous move today.
Quite simply the winner will come either from a) a non threatening breakaway rider or b) an elite climber
My pick from group a) Thibault Pinot and from group b) Nairo Quintana
Rather hoping to see Lutsenko in the thick of the action. He is very capable on this kind of stage and would probably be allowed to get 5 mins down the road.

I surely dont need to say that I want to Tadej Mark One today and things could be a lot less testing for him without the target on his back.

The stats on his descent yesterday were absolutely insane. No fear whatsoever. Such a talent.

Come on Pidcock bring home the bacon. Which of the GC contenders can make a decisive break?

    What a race

Amazing result for Pidcock, it shows what he can do when my money isn't on him!!

Today is a sprinters day, of sorts, but the uphill towards the finale will surely see a few of the field off after the last few days of climbing. I do think today is going to be a hard slog for the sprinters and it could be that a well formed break could see the field off. As such the betting market is wide open.

A day for watching and learning as we go.

Incredibly courageous or effing stupid? Fair play to these guys on the downhills. Takes some kahunas to use all the road like he does.

Today would surely under any normal circumstances be Wout Day II but they really used him up on the climb yesterday. He is incredible so you wouldnt say never with him.

Some great rides yesterday. Piddock getting away from one of the tours better climbers was immense. It was fabulous to see life still in the old boy Froomes legs too. WVA put in one hell of a shift as did Sepp Kuss. I know I am biased but I thought what Pogacar did yesterday was nothing short of incredible. To come back from the day before and test Vingegaard repeatedly up the final climb signalled that he hasnt called it a day yet. Credit to his opponent for being able to react each time. You have to take your hat off to Pogacar as he trying to take on a whole team almost single-handedly.

I fully expect a decent break today and some different teams will have to put a shift in to chase it down for their sprinters.

    WVA 9/2
    Matthews 28/1
    Sagan 33/1

Yesterday was a break day that the sprint teams couldn't control. Today is a break day that I don#t think Jumbo Visma will want to come back together. I think this finish is perfect for Pogacar, and I don#t think they will want him to win the stage and get bonus seconds as well.

As such I expect a decent sized break to go away. My four again are -

    Schachmann
    Magnus Cort
    Cattaneo
    Schultz

There was pretty much a perfect storm for the break yesterday. Jakobsen was unable to keep tabs on the peloton as it was all pretty fast and furious and then Ewan ended up on the deck at the point where they had looked interested. This left only one team in the race with any desire to chase it down and as no others were interested in helping they too gave it up. Ineos, JV and UAE had a little tete a tete at the front and a virtual handshake was put in place.
Another good day for the Brits with Fred Wright turning in yet another stunning performance to be second.
Today will depend again on who is in the break and the likelihood is that we will see a break a long way ahead. It will probably get very tactical in the peloton and the main interest could be whether or not Pogacar can gain a few valuable seconds.
Pidcock would have been interesting today but he is too close now in the GC for the likes of JV and UAE to allow him too long a leash.

If Kämna is recovered are few softer days then he is very interesting for a stage like today. At times he has looked in really good nick this year.
I could get very poor with my Pinot infatuation but he could figure in the break today. Similar comments apply to Michael Woods.

I am having a bit on Kamna pre race and will look at who gets in the break for a bet in-running.

South African Louis Meintjes making plenty of time on the GC field - about 1m 30s off the yellow jersey right now

I pretty much nailed how things would unfold on yesterdays stage but having got two strong men in the break it was dissapointing only to be on the third. It was a bizarre final climb yesterday with the sprinter putting a move on the climbers and outclimbing them.
Probably the most interesting thing about yesterdays stage was seeing Jumbo splintering if not cracking. Roglic looked dead on his bike, Kuss wasnt able to contribute much and again it was the incredible WVA who ended up being team donkey. The team leader still looked imperious in the final stages and countered every move Pogacar made. For this Tour to get really interesting we could do with seeing Pogacar take a minute back on Vingegaard but he looks every bit as good as Pogacar did this time last year.
Very hilly stage today and usually I would be all in on WVA but he has to be near the limit and surely team orders will say that Vingegaard cannot do without him. The sprint teams are finding it really tough. It looks like they trying to nurse Ewan to the Champs Elysee and Jakobsen has really struggled in the mountains. Taking all this into account I think you have to be looking for someone who can get in the break today. Provided there are no dangers down the road the peloton will let them slip away. It would be interesting if someone just a few minutes behind could get in the break but that isnt likely. It would also be good to see Ineos actually have a crack at JV with the GC in mind rather than picking who's turn it is for stage points, nobody cares who wins the team prize lads!
    Two bets pre race today;
Magnus Cort Nielsen who is a previous winner here 20/1 and local boy Benjamin Thomas 100/1

Magnus has coved so is out of the race. A real shame as he was having a great Tour. Primoz Roglic has also withdrawn today to allow him time to recover from his injuries. Jumbo still have a big numbers advantage over UAE who are effectively riding with only a five man team. Come on Ineos, you have the numbers.

With my main bet today a non starter I am going to take a punt on another guy who is having an excellent Tour and could very easily feature in the break.
    Jasper Stuyven 28/1
