I remember a story in the papers about the US team losing to an u15 boys team a few years back. I cant remember full details but remember thinking it a bit far fetched. I did some checking and turns out it was more of a small sided short game and there were lots of the better women missing. Think of an end of training camp warm down game, at least that was what I read. I have a doubt that now an u15 team could beat a top rank womens national side, as much based on maturity as anything else, but might be wrong. I doubt many of these games reported though are genuine 90 minute competition standard though...

My stance on this. And I try to keep out of stuff like this, however...

The more football is on the less I'm watching it, over hyped "Rivals" ending in a boring 1-1 with a 90 minute full time postmortem of why Man United aren't the same team as 20 years ago.

Women's football is what it is and that's obvious. People like to watch goals in games, you're more likely to see an 8-0 or a 20-0 in the womens game than the blokes. if you want to watch goals, tune in to womens football and respect the efforts and clear dedication made by the players. No harm is being caused by it, however the media tool could be.

Comparing records though is ridiculous. This whole on par with Rooneys goal record is a non starter. Chalk and cheese. I'm sure when the womens player overtakes the number Rooney is on, he'll have to come out and say something.

Accept it for what it is, watch or don't watch. These women are unfortunately to be playing at a time where everything has to be compared by the woke rather than them being able to just enjoy something that they clearly love.

Obviously, watch what you want. But assume this means you didn't watch any L1 games last season and need to wait until SAFC is back in the PL?

The news is that under 12s football is banning headers....

One advantage taller stronger boys have over girls, is gone.

I watched L1 games while we were there but won't this season, it's inferior to the two leagues above them but superior to women's football by a long way imo.

Andy Townshend pretty much said this tonight on talkSPORT. Said he hasn't watched mucj of the football because he's been on holiday, but not in a disrespectful way, he tried to watch one of the games and turned off after 20 minutes. He said he isn't a snob, but it would be the same of a leauge 2 match was on TV, he wouldn't want to watch it. He was very delicate about not wanting to offend. His Mate Durham said he sees where he's coming from, but ofcourse he's liked womens football since 1998.

Ex-pro players, like Townsend, would want to see players of a similar or superior ability imo, I doubt he'd go out of his way to watch L2 unless he had a relative/friend involved. He'd still be better than some of those players now tbh.

This is why I don't watch TV reality shows, I want to be entertained by people who are better than me. People eating maggots or baking scones, no matter if they're big celebrities, isn't talent it's desperation.

Nor do I want to watch third rate singers or comedians on things like the X-factor.

In all honesty I'd have backed my Sunday League team to beat a women's pro-outfit ... providing we'd had a month off the beer <laugh>

I wouldn't have backed us to beat Alfreton Town men even if we trained like them for a year.

well have to say i nearly leapt off my chair when the england lasses equalised, got right into this game, mainly because the spanish ladies team is pretty much similar to spains male team in that they commit niggly little fouls while throwing themselves to the floor, englands first goal (imho) should never have been chalked off, we should have had a penalty so hope they finish spain off in extra time now.

    haway the lasses!!

surprised there are not more comments currently with the euros going on (with the world cup having been sold out at least it is some football) and england doing well.

again, when i first tried to watch womens football they were all what i would call 'very girlie', the passing was weak, control was pathetic and the goal keeping was very sub standard...these euros have shown me that the womens game has improved dramatically although the 'very girlie' squeals from the fans can be a put-off.

last night was a very good game in all honesty, two teams playing a very tactical game and with a definite game plan as both had enjoyed plenty of time with the ball in previous games but this was a massive test for england but for me the most enjoyable part was the way the lasses just got back up and on with the game, no rolling around screaming like they been shot, no surrounding the ref waving imaginary cards and in the main very few whistles but when there was the game was restarted fast.

maybe it is inferior, maybe as a spectacle it does not match the mens game, maybe it will never take off and revert to a 'non media' event but i am enjoying it and enjoying england doing well.

so haway the lasses, do your country proud.

Good point about the play acting and time wasting in the mens game, which ruins the spectacle a lot of the time. It would be interesting to see how much time the ball is in play in a womens game versus a mens one.

I don't mind watching the lasses....it's the female comentating and pundits, that lock my head in the shed.

I'm just sick of the fact that they cannot pronounce simple words....even Wrighty can't.

These pundits have invented new dopey footy lingo....

The best one ever from last night was - " The Spanish players are out thinking us becase they are advancing to both wings, to join the pivot"

    What is going onnnnnn?...........Ffs !
