If you look at history... who did utd give a lot of time to post Busby? Real rime of the era?

The big shock was how long they gave ferguson and it paid huge dividends didn't it?

Tin hat has to stamp his style on it. Van goal did that, he was the dourest man ever. There's still players there now from him. Mourinho still has an influence there.

If most managers were given the time ogs was there's be no sign of players form those eras.

Utd seem very reticent to get rid for some reason.

I honestly don't know any United fan who thinks anything other than Ten Hag being a positive appointment. He's seen as a real shift from past appointments. Even those that backed Ole. He's seen as a proper footballing man, one who encourages one touch, expansive, attacking football. Not the turjid bunk we've seen over the past 4/5 years.

Most just want to witness that coming through on the pitch. If you look at it like that, it's less to do with entitlement and more to do with the standard of football AND the commitment from the players. The booing at HT on Saturday (which I thought was ridiculous) was aimed towards the players for that reason. We just want to see the players completely buying into what the manager wants and giving 100% towards that even if some aren't good enough. In terms of targets the only expectation fans have is that we can aim for top 4.

He really needs fans to grow up and just create a positive atmosphere to get what you.can out of the digest til they can be replaced.

Savaging maguire is so.much fun for us but there's no need for mancs to make him even more comical.

The second rodgers was dispatched lfc fans were backing klopp even though it was a ****e first game v spurs.

Same when Hodgson was taken out and shot to get rodgers in.

You really have to make the most of your day out. Going and spending 100s between travel and food and tickets to boo and moan and have a fight with someone isn't my idea of a good day out anyway.

We only finished 8th but the mood with the fans was very different. Rodgers we were 10th with no direction and we looked poor on the field. Klopp only lifted us two places but fans were behind him because the football looked better with more promise and direction and you could see what he was trying to do.

The fans hated Rodgers in 10th and loved Klopp in 8th but it didn't really have much to do with the position on the table. When we weren't good enough Klopp said so. When we weren't good enough Rodgers seemed to lack the balls to direct the players.

I'm still expecting Hag to be good for United. Sure, I'll laugh at their opening day defeat, but to me he seems the right kind of manager for what they need. A stern hand to fix the nonsense.

Sure, I'll be happy if he fails, but I suspect he turns out to be the best manager post-ferg.

/ Didn't watch their opening game

He has a major problem. Conte, pep, klopp, tuchel (just about)

All things being equal 4 very good managers, albeit one a negative strike of piss.

Arteta hasn't much chance of breaking those 4 even with 100mil again spent. What utd have simply isn't really better than any of the current top 4.

When klopp started he had to get 76 points to scrape into 4th over arsenal who were not too bad and utd were gone to pot totally then.

Klopps improved year on year til the injury season and has got back from there to a high level again.

Utd would need 2 sides to fall away here. Currently cheslea don't look amazing but are still good and spurs look decent. So it's us or city.

    It's not just Barca then...

Real Betis unable to register their 6 new signings are now activating an economic lever by reaching an agreement with an investment fund to sell percentage of it's subscription and future ticket rights for next 5 years.

This is what I was referring to earlier when I talked about how I feel about that feeling under Tag if he does the same.

city might have sold all their good players :bandit:

our midfield might be about to implode totally.

I think personally arsenal will have a great time right up until they play top 4 sides and will be hockeyed. they've not addressed the CM zone at all and not addressed the CB zone and their keeper is vastly over rated. they are not making top 4, they were found wanting in heart last season and i don't see that changing.

Chelsea are an odd one. they are now a yank's plaything who knows **** all about football and the same people who ran the ship like an oligarchs plaything are making odd calls. I think they might have 0 debt today but give it 4 years and they will be absolutely saddled with debt. I also think tuchel is too defensive a coach and isn't bringing on a lot of these players that have been lumped together over time. they should be 3rd min or challenging but will be 4th.

Then spurs.... they are having a great old time. but conte is an odd fish and could get the hump at any point. Its really still the kane and son show so with the world cup in there it would be a massive blow out in the seocnd half of the season.

HOWEVER..... all that hope for you has to be tempered with the fact that the current top 4 have very very good managers who will cope with trouble. Like... when klopp came in Cheslea had conte and won. Spurs had poch in 2nd, city were3rd with pep starting and man utd had mourinho (so clearly were ****) and arsenal were seeing off wenger somehow.

Ten hag has the issue that right now the top 4 have all their managers with feet firmly under the desk and teams with identity.

TBH If you gave klopp the team he had in 2016/17 to get 4th NOW and gave him the challenge utd have I think he'd be doing VERY well to get 76 points.

This was our team. the system was starting to be quite clear in shape and we had milner filling in at LB. He is actually Just a few world class signings (alisson, VVD fabinho, salah, robertson, trent) away from the CL/league winning side.

    Mingolet/Karius
    clyne Matip/Klavan Lovren Milner
    Lallana Henderson Wijnaldum
    Mane Firmino Coutinho

Look at that side though in comparison to what utd do have available..... well its pretty clear that if OGS could get a tune out of them then ten hag should also. the key, like klopp above is that a clear system should emerge tis season that people can see where it is going.

Arsenal have addressed the CB zone as they have a new on , in effect , in Saliba and Spurs are now far more than the Son Kane show i.e. Kuliseiski (sp) Romero Betancour and we wait to see how Perisic goes .

Arsenal have a very nice start to season. First 8 games should all be won theoretically. Then they play spurs us and city in space of 4 games.

If they can get off to maybe 7 wins and a draw v United will give them huge confidence going into that run of tough games, but also gives a bit of leeway if they do then drop points.

If they lose 2 or 3 games in next 7 and then lose and drop more points in those tough 3, then will be questions asked.

I don't think arsenal with White (****) gabriel (****/inconsistent) saliba (we will see) Their midfield is not up to it 1 rapsit and one slow lunatic and 20 attackers is not going to cut it when they need to fight for parity

Spurs are really the kane and son show. they are that good. Everything else is being done to get a 343 with those two scoring. I think they will still struggle if those two are shagged out in the second half of the season. exactly the same as we would last season with salah. we had everyone working massively hard round him to achieve great things but he was shagged out.

I think they will do exactly what you've said. easy early wins then a crashing to earth as real games come up and they are found out cos they can't fight for the right to dominate the game. theres huge positives to the arsenal line up of attacking talent but the same brittleness is there for all to see (IMO)

personally think Spurs as a squad are now much better than you give them credit for .While not up to his standard they do now have cover for Kane in Richarlison and Peric for Son plus Bissouma added to MF and Kulewhotsit was the best of the Jan signing and was excellent on Saturday . I fully expect them to be 3rd and quite possibly pushing for the top 2 .
