That they're ****e and most of those not working are not doing so because they can afford not to. A friend of mine will be 66 in the March after next. I had a chat with him last week and pointed out that his 140 mile round commute s costing him almost £200 a week in petrol. It also means that they need two cars with two sets of insurance, tax, mot and repairs as well as several grand tied up in the second car. In addition to this all this money is subject to tax. He is just into the top band so needs £2k a month just to offset his costs, nearly half his salary. He went into work the next day and handed in his notice.
Driving is a complete scam, insurance ffs, and you need a licence, health and safety gone mad BMX is the travel choice of the perspicacious

I am sure you peddled some similar pish on another thread... Macron capped energy prices at 4 per cent to get re-elected. He is now spending €10bn to nationalise EDF, which is suing the French government because it is losing billions because of the price cap. Once he has nationalised that debt, all of France’s taxpayers will be picking up the tab. So there is an illusion of cheap energy. With half of France’s nuclear reactors currently out of commission, they are having to import electricity from other European nations and us. Sounds fantastic: nobody is paying the actual price for the energy, there is not enough supply and somewhere down the line somebody will have to pick up the bill. Welcome to Socialism, the French story of bankruptcy through state incompetence. Your comments on the recycling of taxes clearly demonstrate that you have no idea what you are writing about.
So the government called in the energy companies to give them a dressing down... It seems to me that something that the government or the regulator can do is force the energy suppliers to help the poorest in society – those least able to pay increased energy prices – by introducing ‘social tariffs’. This requires no law change – just threaten them with a 50 per cent windfall tax if they do not do it. If he becomes PM, Socialist Sunak intends to just shower people with more handouts whilst leaving taxes alone. The two problems are that such a system is not targeted at those most in need of the help and any system that taxes people in order to then give them their taxes back as a handout is inherently wasteful and open to fraud. If she becomes PM, Liz Truss intends to slash taxes (although she was finally forced to admit that she could not do that on ‘day one’ on her GB News appearance) but that equally is not targeted at those most in need of the help and she has not announced any handouts. So the common sense idea, cutting the politicians out altogether, is for the energy suppliers to effectively cap the energy bills of the poorest by putting them on a fixed ‘social tariff’. With the energy suppliers effectively subsidising this measure out of reduced profits, the windfall tax advocates will be silenced and the Left cannot accuse them of profiteering. The reality of higher energy prices will still have to apply to those who can pay. I know that Ofcom forces telephone companies to offer ‘social tariffs’ and Ofgem used to have them, so they should surely return.
You could just post those last nine words to any of his responses and it would be equally as accurate to all of them.
Whilst the government imposed a windfall tax on the energy companies, this was offset by Sunak increasing the tax relief to above 90% if they invested in new oil and gas extraction. So Farked in actually correct about recycling taxes.
Buggery Bollocks Boris Brexit. EDF sues French government for €8.4bn after Macron forces it to sell energy at a loss Paris ordered EDF, which is currently 84pc state owned, to sell more of its power to French rivals at below market prices in an attempt to support households and businesses as energy costs soared. EDF, which is in the process of being fully nationalised by the French state, said the €8.3bn figure reflected losses “estimated to date”, suggesting the price cap could cost it €15bn over the full year. EDF estimated the changes would cost it between €7.7bn and €8.4bn when they were first announced and said it would consider “any measure to protect its interests”. Before the measure was enacted, competitors were allowed to buy 100TWh of EDF’s electricity at a heavy discount to balance its monopoly position. In January, the Elysée ordered that cap to be increased by a fifth. Last month, EDF posted its largest ever half-year loss of €5.3bn, compared to a profit of €4.2bn a year earlier. As well as the price cap, the company is struggling with outages. Half of its nuclear fleet has been closed for repair and maintenance, which cost it €24bn. Heatwaves have also caused problems, with EDF relying on river water to help cool its reactors. The French government has relaxed environmental restrictions linked to the use of river water to allow reactors to remain online. EDF’s nuclear power accounted for 69pc of France’s electricity production last year, but it is expected to fall to a three-decade low this year. Mr Macron is about to nationalise the debt-laden utility by buying the 16pc it does not already own. The government offered €12 per share, for an estimated total of €9.7bn, as it tries to shore up supplies amid the energy crisis. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/oth...pc=U531&cvid=ea4f2d290cca44d2b8e919d68d1d1cbf
TRAITOR. The French are throwing the Eco rules out of the window to achieve their 'savings'. That's supposed to be our job post Brexit.
There are no rules being thrown out of the window. Brexit has turned Britain into an old, toothless bulldog waiting at the vets for that final injection.
Not sure about your teeth but you'll eventually get that injection if your EUROPEAN UNION covid pass has expired . I renew my blue passport every 10 years you'll need 20 shots to visit France in that time .
Along with his fantasies, he consistently shows his complete lack of knowledge and understanding in every post. I can only assume he's either as thick as mince, a very **** troll, or both.
Any evidence to support that theory? Thought not. It seems the main posters on here have higher educational qualifications, whilst the Brexitards misspell and litter their posts with bad punctuation.
I get the arguments about the money side of things, but that shouldn't stop us helping a proud nation under siege. Worth every penny in my book.
I know several people that left Britain to live in another country my mum has been in Spain for about 25 years , I have a good friend that settled down in Taiwan about 15 years ago . One thing I've noticed is they don't spend every day moaning about the UK or Brexit they have productive fulfilling lives to enjoy . I know several people that bought property in France because you get more for your money and ended up leaving the place to rot because they couldn't sell it rather through red tape or lack of interest. If I was so twisted up with hatred for the UK , my fellow Brits and sat on the Internet every day hoping for the country to fail . Especially at his age I would rather see out my days in France. Like most grumpy old farts he probably drives to France , has a couple of days enjoying croissants and cheese . Then realises the place is no longer France it's full of North Aftican gangs trying to get to the UK . Then retreats back to his sleepy Suffolk village where he holds the title of resident idiot
From his comments, I doubt he's spent as much time in France as he tries to represent, if he's even been at all.
