We were hanging on before that, from when the show running midfield was chopped apart and only Slater remained in there. We also played so much better with a back 4 there can no longer be an argument for a back 5 surely? At least not with the players we currently have.
Oscar's finishing was a level above anything we've had recently in that position. Yes, he was only a few feet out, but the speed of thought and execution in the first was excellent. The second was actually a really difficult chance because it rebounded to him hard and he kept it down and on target. If we could teach Allahyar to cross (with either foot), he'll fill his boots this season.
Just got home, confession first.... I feel dirty, I admit to voting with City loss, just couldn’t see us getting anything out of this! How wrong was I! Should have had more faith. But, wow, what a match, lovely weather, outstanding crowd & atmosphere, over 17K, something the previous owners could only dream about. I feared the worst 4 mins in, Ingram having to make 3 or 4 saves. Definitely kept us in that game. We grew into it and moments of magic shone through, still buzzing like the proverbial fridge! 2nd half, when subs were made, our quality was replaced with numbers, sitting deeper, soaking up pressure, and 7 mins extra squeaky bum time. 7 mins?? Ref just couldn’t wait to give them everything, us nothing. Matt Ingram was excellent, but funniest moment was after one foul throw in, Shota demonstrating to Coyle how to take another. Overall, a brilliant afternoon, to think when the fixtures came out, we feared having a tough start. UTT.
Difference for me is, he wasn’t at his best today but his influence in relentless pressing and ball carrying means he’s always thought about by the full backs. Something KLP couldn’t quite do on his off days.
Maybe so but I when you are two up you always have that leeway and feel more relaxed about it, you knew though if they got one back it would make it nervy. I thought the way they started in the first fifteen minutes they could have easily been up. How he missed that opening goal near the end I don’t know. However two goals for us and after Bradford we really needed that.
Great that you enjoyed the weather & the game, but HT, you really need to have your buzzing ‘fridge’ sorted out UTT.
A lot going on about Covil. Not an easy game for the kid to come into. But clearly the management team think highly of him and we need to be patient with him.
Not sure he gets as many minutes when Sinik, Traore, Longman, Doc, Seri etc return. Result today even more impressive with that injury list, especially having to keep an eye on key players fitness ahead of Tuesday.
My first game at the KC for many years, I ****ing loved it! I need to find a way of getting there most games. Haven’t read the comments but great team performance. The ref was shockingly ****e & biased towards the Norwich. Norwich tactics off falling over for every challenge was laughable. The ****s them
Feeling dirty, still buzzing, soaking up pressure and a squeaky bum.... it could only be a match report from the one and only Tigress....
Thats not what I meant & you know it….. I will rephrase….I need to find a way of avoiding the Saturday school pick up run & the many many sporting fixtures my kids have on a sat afternoon. Better for you?
