Don't Tetteh and Ali have form for that?

Championship is one of the more physical leagues in the world. Probably get away with it if yesterday's ref was anything to go by.

At the end of the match Teteh was limping when he got out his seat to celebrate with the rest of the players

I have to disagree with that. To me, English football has always been very technical and fluent. It's almost like there's an agreement to play beautiful football, so I would imagine that's what the youth academies, federations, referees, etc. are all trying to encourage.
When you look at other leagues (of lower quality), those players don't have the same fundamentals, so the playing style ends up being very rough and dependent on physicality. Mind you, I'm not talking about fitness or level of athleticism, I know Championship is very demanding in those areas and these players are all elite athletes. But in terms of playstyle and what you can get away with during the game, you guys are probably on the "softer" side.

Think that's a total misreading of the game in England. We loan our kids out to these leagues to get battered and see if they can handle it. The strength of the championship is predicated on the strength of the pyramid, and the competitiveness here at all levels are something not experienced anywhere else. Obviously the Premier league gets and addition of quality and perhaps a dilution of the rough and tumble of the EFL, but our game in the tiers below is more physical, ****ousing and just plain nastier on a general basis than anywhere in the world.

I've seen City in all 4 divisions, I watched Ferriby, gateshead and York in non league as well as Newcastle in their heyday so I know champions league and national league and everything in between.

And that's down to the strength of the 92 clubs plus the unofficial professional league below which is more or less a 5th division nowadays.

"technical and fluent" it mostly isn't

You don't hear the crack of shin bones, see the blood of a stud-rake because everyone sees championship highlights and Premier league games, but when you're 10 yards from the touchline in a sub 1000 crowd you see and hear things that the cameras don't.

Youth football is soft. But very few kids go from academy to first team without an initiation in the men's leagues at a lower level. They get kicked, punched, bollocks squeezed, **** housed to **** and for a lot of lads if they can't handle its it's the end of the road.

Ok fair enough, I'm not an expert and a lot of what you wrote makes sense. But would you say (at least in higher divisions) there's a push towards a more eye-pleasing style? Because it feels like it looking from the outside. Like, I'm watching other leagues and there's some nasty **** happening, then I tune into an EFL game and the slightest challenge is a foul.

Yet so much isn't a foul in critical areas, like the 18 yard box.

Sadly my last live game for a while heading back to Vietnam Wednesday. What a game to finish on though, and a big thumbs up to the south stand where I was who were also in good voice for a change. The atmosphere was electric and the buzz during and after the game is something I have not experienced for many a long day.

Impossible to really pick out a player that stood out above others, as all gave 100% and had good games, with the players we have at present available 433 or 4231 certainly suits us. Having A Jones and Slater in front of the back 4 really does work, and we look much better balanced. Ingram though has to have a special mention, as he kept us in the game, if we had conceded first, it could have been a difficult afternoon I think.

Oscar is starting to find his feet, and Tettah working on the left looks better than the 2 together up front as they were against Preston.

As mentioned by many, apart from Amin Yapusi:emoticon-0105-wink:, the ref had a shocker.

Well, the start to the league season has gone much better so far than any of us could have expected, and we are nowhere near a finished article yet, if we can keep in touch with the top of the next 5 or 6 games, then I think we can push on and have a good season.

There is nowadays. But years ago on the ploughed field pitches we had it wasn’t. And wasn’t as recently as the days of Watford and Wimbledon having success.

Do you come on here just to wind people up, most of your posts don't sound like those of a Hull City fan.

Why? The ref really wasn’t that bad for us at all. It’s just childish nonsense really moaning about him. Most the decisions people are moaning about were correct. Some of the people on here sound worse than the Bristol fans did.
