Best racing today by far is, of course, at Deauville, but my goodness the Group races are tricky events! Not a lucky track for me, kept ignoring Soumllon's rides, very silly that! So, reluctantly, I will swerve Deauville this time. Best of luck to anyone having a go there today! <ok>

Did find one that was interesting at Southwell, but price indication was so miserable that it is not worthwhile putting it up at the moment.

Last week in the Maurice de Gheest, I opined that the home team were rank and then picked the wrong British raider to plunder the money as Perfect Power put in another stinker.

This week it is the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville and the best the home team can do is the unbeaten, impeccably bred Erevann, but the Aga Khan’s colt won a four runner Group 3 last time in a photo from Andre Fabre’s Tribalist (previously beaten in the Poulains by Modern Games and yet to win since). The Japanese raider Bathrat Leon was fourth in the Sussex with Modern Games ahead of him and Order Of Australia last, so it hard to make a case for either of them. David Simcock’s Light Infantry was second in the Prix Jean Prat, with Modern Games and Tribalist behind that day; however, prior to that he had been just ninth in the Guineas. I cannot see why State Of Rest is being dropped to a mile, so presumably they are just avoiding Baaeed at York next week but he could end up causing a battle for the lead. Prosperous Voyage caused a huge upset at HQ making all to beat Inspiral but I expect that form to revert back to that of the Fillies’ Mile last year where Frankie won easily. At this stage, there is little between Inspiral and the Guineas winner Coroebus, and while it is a concern that he missed the Sussex and raced too keenly in the St James’s Palace, I can see him just sitting behind the battle for the lead and picking them off. With the rain forecast to avoid Deauville before race time the ground should stay quick, which may favour him more too.

I am guessing that the combination of fast unwatered ground plus next week’s Ebor meeting is the reason that Pontefract’s Sunday card has no race with more than eight runners; and only two of them. That said, the feature Listed race at 3:00 does look like a money stealing opportunity. Favourite Child and Rolling The Dice should not even be here and Barbanera drops back to sprinting but possibly wants easier ground. Honey Sweet was behind Symphony Perfect last time and preference would be for the latter, who beat Barbanera in a Listed race at HQ last year. Princess Shabnam comes in after a second in a Listed race at Chester but that was on easy ground and her last win was on the kitty litter. No question that the best horse in the race is Chil Chil, third in last year’s Haydock Sprint Cup, but she won’t be winning this on the form of her two races so far this term; so I am astounded that Michael Dods’ mare GALE FORCE MAYA, third in a Group 3 on her penultimate start (Symphony Perfect fifth) and winner of handicaps either side of that, is trading at 2/1. I am not bothered about the wide draw when there are only eight runners.

Nice change of luck for you, well done! I fancied Aramis Grey as I had backed her at Windsor LTO. Hindsight says a forecast with yours might have been nice, but I have not checked on that yet!

Yep, SF paid 9.03, so a rev. forecast would have paid-off! :emoticon-0100-smile
