He's always full tilt and gets nudged off the ball. It's not yet the end of the window newcastle will sign players
Good point today. Some decent pluses. But the front line definitely the weakness of the team. The class we don't presently have: Beardsley, Cole, Ferdinand, Shearer. Throw in Ginola Waddle or Robert. I hope EH's showing some of our old videos to our owners. These are the type of guys that will turn a point today into three.
I'd offer the 60m for Maddison tbh. Leicester are gash and would probably see now they could use the cash. That young lad from Benfica would be a welcome addition, seems to have some talent, is pretty young and cheap.
It is quite evident we need at least two attack minded players in the front three. Manu are falling to pieces though so let’s not be too down beat.
Bad day at the office today, dreadful performance. Can’t point the finger at anyone in particular, they were all well below par. Only Pope, who made a couple of excellent saves, and maybe Almiron can take any credit. Four points more than this stage last season. Onwards and upwards. HTL.
Agreed here. We looked a bit limbo today. As @Somebodys pinched my sombrero said, I was struggling to work out what was so bad, but then realised it was this: Howe set us up exactly the same. No change at all. It was a tiny bit worrying, because we were set up to control the ball, be on the front foot, etc. But we couldn't get the ball, because they had 4 in midfield vs our 3, and still had two out wide. We knew they'd do it, because they did it vs Man U. We didn't adapt. So we looked lost and it ended up being a defensive performance. You either have the players to dictate a game, or you just don't and I fear Eddie thinks the players are better than they are. Don't get me wrong, we've come a long way and aren't a relegation side. But there's levels and if we aren't going to control the tempo, need to adapt to that situation far better. We'll see what happens vs City, but I fear a repeat of the performance last season. We just haven't had the oomph of new players, there's no pizazz going forward. There's a worry it'll get a bit stale if we can't improve the team.
This rule is bullshit BTW If you recall longtaffs incidents Burnley when he ge our his head in the way I said thst was too . players have got to go for them especially in the box
It's the rule I had issue with I think its a ridiculous rule. The players have to go for it. Overhead kicks scissor kicks are all a foul by the rule whether they're aware of s defender trying to head the ball or not
Indeed. Otherwise every time the opposition takes a kick at the ball against Fraser it should be a foul for dangerouly high kicking.
Not really. You need to read the rule. This from the FA Rule Book. Law 12: Fouls and Misconduct 2. Indirect Free Kick An indirect free kick is awarded if a player plays in a dangerous manner. PLAYING IN A DANGEROUS MANNER Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury. A scissors or bicycle kick is permissible provided that it is not dangerous to an opponent.
The rule is irrelevant to what I'm saying It's a load of tripe... Both players have to go for it.. The games been getting ruined over years. think they don't know other players are on the pitch? Imo Longstaffs at Burnley shouldn't have been an issue and this goal should stand. It'll be sliding tackles they'll stop soon enough and football will become even more dull. Just my view anyway
And I quote you: Overhead kicks scissor kicks are all a foul by the rule whether they're aware of s defender trying to head the ball or not The rule is very relevant to what you are saying. You are saying that that all overhead kicks are a foul - the rule says that is not the case. I agree with you that its a difficult rule to interpret though. The one on Saturday, Wilson was raising his leg high to control the ball and Dunk was actually holding off the challenge. Its a moot point whether it was a foul but referee gave it and could use the argument that if Dunk had dived in and tried to head it Wilson could have caught his head. Think its a rule that will always go in favour of the defender whether they are the one with the high foot or putting their head in there. Probably the best way to do it as well. What I didn't realise was that it was that it was an indirect Free Kick, so Longstaff couldn't have a penalty anyway.
Right. So you can ride a bike while carrying scissors, so long as you don't endanger other players. Got it!
Sounds to me that if you strap scissors to your feet you are allowed to then kick a bicycle at someone. It’s clear in the rules.
