    Hope you’re all well.

Only one I have is Eternal Halo (5/1 at Bet365 at time of post), 3:15 at Musselburgh.
Has been performing well of late, and the weight is off since the last run at Musselburgh.
    Callum Rodriguez on the saddle.

15:00 York, Group-2 Great Voltigeur Stakes - Deauville Legend

Have always thought that this talented son of Sea The Stars is an improving top-class middle-distance gelding. Has it all to do to beat Secret State, but, as I just remarked, Deauville Legend is improving all the time. If he wins this, maybe the Melbourne Cup is on the cards? Don't know either the jockey or the trainer too well, but I'm sure they're both up to the task ahead. Daniel Muscutt rides for the James Ferguson yard. 7/2 is best price indication at time of writing.

Have a successful day folks, and good luck! :emoticon-0167-beer:

Escaped from the office today, so I am reckoning on taking a drive to the Knavesmire with the camera to see if I can get any decent shots of Baaeed, Mishriff and Native Trail. A shame that Alenquer has dropped out but that is one less for Baaeed to beat. There look to be some interesting types in the Acomb in Local Dynasty, Mill Stream and Chaldean but I do not think that the St Leger winner is in the Great Voltigeur as Deauville Legend and Walk The Stars are ineligible and Secret State is probably second in the yard’s pecking order to New London.

In terms of a betting proposition there is the usual Ebor meeting conundrum: all the handicaps have huge fields and in the last fifteen years it has become complete guesswork as to where any race will be run. With three of the cavalry charges at 6 furlongs or less, that leaves me with the 4:10 stayers’ handicap.

Five year old Thunderous tops the weights on his handicap debut and has Ryan Moore booked, so is he going to try and make all on the Johnston’s Yorkshire Cup runner-up? Alfred Boucher has been second the last twice, the penultimate one at Chester over around 2 miles. Zoffee won the Northumberland Vase on the kitty litter and was then third at HQ in a three-way photo but last time he was well beaten over 2 miles 4 furlongs in the Goodwood race won by Master Milliner; and Emma Lavelle’s six year old comes in here on a hat-trick so must be a danger to all. The Frankel mare Frankenstella has hardly been seen since last May, suggesting issues, but much of her winning has been on easy ground so the going is surely against her today. Praiano steps up two furlongs in trip on any previous effort but was beaten in a four runner race last time in first time blinkers so does not look the likeliest winner today for Hollie Doyle. I backed SOAPY STEVENS last time at Goodwood when he was seeking a hat-trick and he did not settle but he ended up only being beaten less than two lengths fourth; and in his previous two races he beat Alfred Boucher, Withhold, Red Flyer and Zoffee. Obviously he has risen a few pounds in the handicap but is only 1lb higher than at Goodwood and Timeform are tipping him on SportingLife.com, so I will blame them if Franny Norton does not collect!

Looked a strong gallop but race time says otherwise (0.9s slower than standard). Impossible to beat Baaeed at that pace. Mishriff ran it in 3.38s faster last year (albeit slightly faster ground). ? Mishriff in decline or race not run to suit. Personally, I think whatever pace they had gone Baeed would have strolled it. Some horse that

I was at the track and the ground seemed quick enough for a fast time but I do not think that anybody wanted to make it so Ryan went on with High Definition but it was hardly a blistering gallop. I am going to say that James Doyle on Mishriff was riding to instruction – he knew he could not do Baaeed for pace so he went early in an almost identical fashion to last year when the horse won by a similar margin. The big disappointment of the race was Native Trail, given how close he was to Mishriff in the Eclipse I was expecting him to at least put in a challenge. The fact that six year old Sir Busker ran third (well done to his connections on picking up over £100k) only two and a half lengths behind Mishriff makes the form look suspect but that should not detract from the performance of the winner who picked up and ran away like the best horse in the world might be expected to do.

What price High Definition for the Triumph Hurdle? <laugh>
