Do not flatter yourself. Your contemptible behaviour is there for all to see. I have no wish to be associated with you. When I joined this website more than 11 years ago, l hoped l would find a group of individuals who, at the least were decent human beings, clearly l was misguided and l gladly leave this website for imperpuity hereafter. If you find the wording a little too challenging, l am sure others will help you out. As for your lack of integrity, we'll, l cannot help you with that. Thank you, too many to name, for your communal spirit and, although not always agreement, it has been a privilege to have discussed and opinionated over more than 11 years.
This was exactly what I was trying to avoid when I moved Libby's original post. Can we please leave this thread for paying respects to the late Queen. This is NOT the thread to debate the pros and cons of the monarchy. Use the politics thread if you want to start a war of words on the monarchy. No more on here.
See mate, that's much better. Feels much better to spell out how you feel directly to somebody doesn't it? Certainly better than making snide comments for sure; no one likes a snide. Please expand on my 'contemptible behaviour' and 'lack of integrity'. Bar my first post being a bit sweary I feel I've put my points across pretty well so I'm genuinely interested? My assumption is that something in one of my posts has triggered you to the point of not reading properly. And that means you've decided I've slagged off the Queen (which I quite clearly haven't) ? Happy to say I'm wrong if that's the case though. No need for the insults mush. I can comprehend the English language perfectly well thank you. Btw you know absolutely **** all about me so implying I'm not a decent human being is pathetically poor form - I've enjoyed your posts over the years mate and you're better than that tbh.
I understand what you're trying to do but this post seems to imply I've caused the problem when I simply put my views across. I've not insulted anyone here so let's not go with the 'Libby being a **** again' narrative.
Stolen from a Naval Oppo. H.M Queen Elizabeth II is dead. Your majesty you never knew me I was just one of the tens of thousands of men and women who signed that big check payable to Queen and Country in an amount up and including my/our life. Personally I was and still am proud of my service, proud to have served such a shining example of devotion and service such as yourself and I would do it all again. It is with a very heavy heart that I truly hope you are now reunited with Phillip who for so long was your rock and who you missed so obviously since his death. Speaking for myself you were and always will be "The Boss" and a shining light of an example of how to serve your subjects has gone out and the world is a much dimmer place without it. To paraphrase our traditional goodbye by the Royal Navy... "Fair winds and following seas weary traveller you duty is done, lay down your head and rest"
Your first post which I moved was a bit more than that. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion but that post was very provocative to people in favour of the monarchy. To refer people who were crying as "moronic ****s" is insulting in my book.
Romsey Saint . I don’t know what’s been said between posters for it to get like this , FWIW. I think you are both Top Posters , and you both come across as decent people . So Please don’t go RS . let’s all have a good nights rest and start again tomorrow . It may well start with a little song Romsey Saint and Libby. Sitting in a tree . Night all .
That's a fair comment mate. I did acknowledge in a different post that my first one was a bit sweary but that's my style so I'm not going to apologise too much for it; I've always been one who lets my emotions come across in a raw manner. However I do think I've put my points across pretty well in general. And yeah I did say that, and I stand by it. Seeing people cry over a monarch I find completely bonkers, especially when a lot of these same people (like the person I met today) are those who moan about societies inequalities a lot. The monarchy is literally the biggest example of inequality in this country in that it portrays the myth that some people are born better than others. That's surely not up for debate? I apologise if anyone here was upset by that but I'm also not that bothered. This is an internet forum ultimately and I enjoy having disagreements with those who strongly disagree with me. I certainly didn't set out to personally insult anyone here so your implication that I've caused the problem here is disingenuous at best.
Nice post Jasper and I agree completely with the sentiment. I've always enjoyed Romsey's posts and would hate to see him stop posting as I think he adds a lot to the forum. Disagreements are just that ultimately. It's literally just words on a screen so not worth worrying about too much. Pretty **** song though
To be honest I agree with Romsey and Tom. I am also a republican at heart that fundamentally agrees with your points about the monarchy. But I think your posts today in this thread have been ridiculously insensitive when the queen has just died. like… just give it a rest you know?
Too much baiting & unnecessary aggression in the wrong place - obviously just my opinion. Posters have dwindled over the years and will / have continue to do so & here’s a case in point. Different options, yeah sure. Again, wrong place regardless of what you spout @Libby. Sounds like you wanted a box to shout from & you took it regardless of the original post title & even when you were encouraged to shift to another site. But no. Bully you
If I'm not allowed to comment on the overreaction in terms of cancelling everything at the time it happens then when exactly am I? We'll agree to disagree mate.
Bully? You'll have to expand on that one. In terms of 'box to shout from' isn't that exactly what a forum is? People have opinions on matters and they use this platform to air and debate them? I also disagree about the wrong place. A thread about her death seems the right place to discuss the huge overreaction (in my view) to it in shutting lots of stuff down. I've made my point and am not continuing to go on about it. But I'm obviously going to respond if people are quoting me (or having a dig without doing so).
