Can we just assume that Emmanuel was given the 1 year extension to try & get back to fitness, give him a final years salary for his retirement, if that’s what it ultimately comes down to.
It’s a business and if the club didn’t think he would make a recovery they wouldn’t extend the contract.
Sometimes people get snippets of factual information which they are asked not to repeat. But we/they do. Maybe not with the direct information but provide a hint. This is done with the best intentions for the passionate fans of this forum to provide a little information where/when possible and not be vilified when they cannot provide more. Probably better of saying **** all and let the **** staring mongers that make up crap have their say
The problem with "letting people make stuff up" is that, as we've seen in the wider world, that can get out of hand really, really fast. Rumours can be used as weapons that force people to address them, it's full credit to the club and to him for not breaking silence on it. Address mistruths and so called "alternative facts", squash them and move on. People like myself, HT and others are lucky enough to be privvy to little snippets, speaking for myself I get told more than I share, which might seem tight but some of it shouldn't be in the public domain. With Emmanuel it's more than just an "injury", the lad has his whole life ahead of him and what happened will eventually come out, so it makes no sense to rush anything and go pouring to the media and more sense to let him be and crack on. He's making fantastic progress, for those that are interested.
Sometimes, but often (as ST has just alluded to) they get more information than they're allowed to share. Which is absolutely fine and as he says some stuff shouldn't be in the public domain. I'm merely responding to the nature of HT's response which I think was far OTT.
Second-year scholar Ben Voase has joined Northern Counties East Premier Division side @BartonTownOB on work experience.
I do hope that he's not cast off at the end of his contract if he's making such progress. Maybe it might be a conversation of, we'll pay you (not a contract) to get well with an option to renew your contract when you're given the all clear..
So for all our signings made we spent the bulk of the game against Luton with 7 players who played for us last season. Amazing.
Forget the promotion dream, we are in a relegation fight - sadly with a team that is devoid of any fight
Really like this from Daws. He's honest and I think it's bang on. He's clearly been pushing working harder off the ball which we undoubtedly did last night
He’s saying the right things, not just whining, but Shota was also a language problem too. Dawson has a lot of passion, he emphasised the important run of games coming up. I think he’s frustrated with the timing of everything, as we all are. I’d have had a sly dig at that, but Andy’s better at PR than me.
I said from the start It'll take 3 windows min for us to be a promotion contender and I'm sticking to it....another 2 windows imo to be anywhere close to challenging, possibly longer if we don't get the right coaching/management team in place. Acun obviously has a vision which is a fantasy one, but he can't implement it be trying to do everything. He can be the face of the club but he has to get the correct people in asap to run the footballing side and just leave them to it. No more "jobs for the boys". His dream will become an expensive nightmare if he doesn't do things properly.
Totally agree. He's naive and unrealistic. What we need now is knarled, ugly experience not Southern European media hype.
Acun has taken a Football Manager approach to recruitment. Seri and Tufan have obvious quality but expecting them to hit the ground running and be the best midfield in the Championship based on their CVs and high salaries is naivety. We needed a ball-winner to replace Smallwood. That’s obvious. The next manager needs to be one with experience in this division and autonomy to identify his own transfer targets and choose his own tactics. Acun needs to swallow some of his pride and realise this. The “rather lose 3-2 than draw 0-0” mantra alongside a bunch of highly-paid stars not earning their wages is a recipe for disaster that will get us relegated. This is why I don’t think we’ll get Wilder and if we did get him, it won’t work out. He supposedly left Boro due to boardroom politics. Can’t imagine he’ll appreciate an owner choosing his transfer targets and playing style for him.
' Ladies Gentlemen, Vern and Rovertiger, I give you Neil Warnock' is what Acun should soon be saying.
Acun needs to grow up. The Championship isn’t some ‘Carlos Kickabout’ Turkish league. It’s the 2nd hardest league in world football and he needs to act accordingly. He needs to leave to leave the professionals to their jobs and not interefere.
